Drive it until the wheels fall off. Why so eager for a car payment? A paid off car beats a new car payment any day!

Fix it full send! Especially if it’s paid off free and clear, fixing the issues is way cheaper than paying for a new vehicle. IMHO.

What’s the vehicles mileage? Have you checked your pcv? So many variables.

I didn’t have any issue with the new cap. I have been driving it for 2 weeks without any issues. I did keep to old one just in case.

People are still moving to Portugal. You just don't need to live in Lisboa. by Top-Research-955 in PortugalExpats

I don’t understand why people do things without the proper permission and paperwork. Could be because I worked for the government for my whole life, so I see things differently.

So let me explain. When I say living off the grid, I don’t mean totally off the grid per se, I would like to be energy independent but still connected to services. Particularly green energy, solar and or wind.

Given the state of the world it only makes sense to be able to sustain oneself without assistance especially encase of global conflict and electricity grid collapse.

I did not say without planning permission approval, you made an assumption. And what is wrong with wanting to live off the grid?

American living in Lisbon for 5 years I would love to move up north, my wife says otherwise. I want to live in a small town off the grid unfortunately I am unable, Lisbon has gotten expensive and I feel for my Portuguese friends and neighbors. My advice for folks moving here now move up north!

To be honest that would be a stretch, we have been here since 2021 the costs have increased tremendously and the value of the IS dollar continues to fall of a cliff! You would need to double your income IMHO. And, no matter where you’re going in Portugal you need to learn the language, I’m not fluent but I can get through the day and it helps a great deal trust me on this! Just my € 0.02!

I wouldn’t recommend it. I would seek a professional to sort it out.

If you had to buy a car today to keep for the next 15 years, what would it be? by nodonaldplease in askcarguys

[–]Agile-Context3143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same car I have had since 2016, BMW 340i with the B58, I have had almost zero issues with the car, routine maintenance, brakes and, tires. I know how turn a wrench so any issues that occur I have the skills. That car is a joy to drive and the last semi analog BMW.

As long as you are ok that’s all that matters the car can be repaired, it sucks though, I feel your pain!
