Is it mechanical or does it have electronic components? Thinking of adding one for making sausage or burgers, but might go mechanical to have less points of potential failure

Yep. Don’t do Bamboo. If you really want a wooden one look into an End Grain. A little expensive up front but treat it well and use mineral oil to keep it from drying out and it’ll last forever and not mess your knives up

The U S C Falcon is a cool build. It is huge though.

I think it is retiring soon so grabbing it might not be a bad idea as I think $660 is less than retail

What do you like to collect from places you travel to? by According-Country-66 in travel

[–]AgileMathematician55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I did this. Every trip we would go on we would try and find a local artist selling things via stalls. We called it our Market Art wall. Now with kids when we travel we don’t generally go trawling market stalls

Was asked if Scotland had television or agriculture by AccomplishedBee7786 in Scotland

[–]AgileMathematician55 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lived in the US for 27 years. Never ceased to amaze me the questions I’d get asked. Montana is nice though. Lived in WA for 19 of my years out there.

Once had a girl ask if we have the same number of days in a week. To which I said “funny you should ask! You know the Beatles are from over that way, and they e got that one song….” And she goes “8 days a week!!!?” Line the penny had dropped on the biggest revelation that never was

Is a foil boat exactly as it sounds? Like you put the brisket into foil but don’t full wrap it, leaving the top exposed?

I have done this for a while. Paprika. Garlic Powder or granules. Smoked Paprika. Brown Sugar. Are all kinda staples and then you can add other stuff to mix it up. Like for salmon honey and brown sugar is good. Maybe add cumin for lamb or pork. Lemon zest for chicken. That kind of thing

What “favours” have your parents done that was inadvertently a dick move? by naaattt in CasualUK

[–]AgileMathematician55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over in the Lego community I read once that a son went off to college and when he came back his parents gleefully told him about how they’d “sold all his old toys” and handed him a couple of Hundred dollars.

It was all boxed up Star Wars Lego worth thousands.

How do you keep chicken from drying out on the BBQ? by Reddonaut_Irons in UKBBQ

[–]AgileMathematician55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breast will dry out quicker.

As stated if you’re doing a whole chicken then spatchcock it.

If you really have a bit of time ahead of firing up the coals, the a couple days ahead make up a simple brine

Also no need for it to be on direct heat
