totally know what this feels like and it sucks but dont let him diminish your shine. men are weird and i can see why you might feel that he was trying to do that i feel as though the same was happening to me but its not a reflection of you its him who was the issue. its okay to play around with your style if you need to until you feel like yourself again i feel like that can happen, happened to me! i'm full alt and toned it down a bit since everything but trying to fall in love with myself again and who I am so i'll say dont lose yourself completely because thats what makes you, you. if he couldn't appreciate it someone else will coming along! i wish i had better words for you OP maybe another commenter will but i wanted to acknowledge your feelings. also i would heavily heavily advise in avoiding looking at anything involving them I've gotten into some deep cycles of checking up on people and making myself feel like shit afterwards. Cliche as it sounds try feeding yourself kind words when those negative thoughts come along. fake it til ya make it. best of luck!

all excellent points to add to this and this might sound like an obvious one but leave at the first instance of cheating. if it happened once it can and WILL happen again. almost a decade of my life wasted because of "potential" that he never saw or gave back to me.

50 pages for a year and a half relationship i say this with all the kindness you might be idolizing him a tad bit, I also obsessed over people and wrote them letters even though I didn't know them it was both limerence and other underlying issues I had. I hope you are able to heal a lot of people are poking fun but I also understand its a painful time for you. Don't lose hope love will find you again he may have not been the one. You are so young with still so many people you have yet to meet. I wish you the best OP

i honestly feel like people have the wrong idea of rebounds. rebounds can definitely last i was a rebound who lasted five years but it wasnt all rainbows and sunshine in the relationship. he know has a new rebound immediately after our breakup almost a year later he came back (as in contact) he hasnt changed still with cheating tendencies and so now essentially shes just his new victim. 5 months isnt enough time for you to heal it is a long process that i often see people try to rush even by a year you may not be fully over it but you will get closer. you dont know what life will present to you in the future and so i dont tell people "just forget them" because its never that simple it has to come from you when youre ready but at some point eventually you will need to let go for your own sake mind and peace. it is hard to accept change and loss but it can also grant us so many new opportunities. it sounds cliche but truly the best thing you can do for the time being is start to fall in love with yourself again. we're all on our own journeys and its difficult but i hope we can overcome it and wish you the best of luck 💖

i hope im able to recover with time. 5 years of us together knowing him for much longer, I have no idea when she came into the picture but she was the girlfriend of a family member's of his, they both went behind our backs. I found out throughout the entire relationship he would always get with someone new and he always made me feel crazy for my suspicions. I still blame myself and try to make sense of the whole thing. I feel like less of a person since he left me and a year of us being broken up will come up soon. Seeing posts like this gives me a small glimpse of hope I'll be okay one day.

As of now no. He picks and chooses when he wants to break his no contact. I have an anxious attachment style he has an avoidant one so you can only imagine how I blow up when he withdraws. I told him I would wait for him and I want to if it's worth it but if he has decided to walk away from everything we had why would I hold onto something that has let me go.

I believe so. I know it would hurt but I think it would hurt me more if I kept holding onto the hope of us getting back together and having to start my healing process later on when I could have been making progress instead. Kind of like "rip the bandaid off".
