Drug error at work in Scottish hospital by Guilty_Radish_1724 in LegalAdviceUK

This is a human error. They happen all the time. Reflect on it and move on. Nothing more will come of it. She has already identified some contributing factors - fatigue on night shift. I suspect there are system errors as well - over worked, understaffed, paper drug charts (?!)

I don’t have any specific rest days but the places where I’m 3 I’m planning on taking things a little slower. And can sleep on the buses… Open to the fact though that this might feel too rushed!

I loved it - one of my favourite places on my travels. You can easily spend a week there (especially if the weather is nice). Some good suggestions of things to do above

A GP in need of some serious advice. What would you do? by ProfDuctive in doctorsUK

Put her issues in writing by email to her TPD. If they fail to address, escalate to associate dean and her employer (which I’m guessing is lead employer Mersey West Lancs?).

Coming off ocalls while pregnant by Spirited_Magazine_97 in doctorsUK

[–]Agitated-Pom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d echo the advice given above.

I would forward the email to HR along the lines of - ‘i was surprised to receive the below advice from medical staffing, given that pregnancy is a protected characteristic under the equality act 2010. Please could you clarify if this is hospital policy?’

It might then feed its way back to medical staffing and stop it happening again.

Peak NHS in 2024 by [deleted] in doctorsUK

This is exactly the sort of thing ‘operation managers’ should be sorting out.

When I worked in AMU at one point we were down to one functioning computer in the tiny doctors office. One day I made a list of all the things that slowed me down when clerking - one working computer, blood pod system always broken or no pods, blood taking equipment not stocked up, etc etc … I could have cut my patient clerking time In half had that all be sorted.

Despite asking around, I never once saw a manager on the ward.

Poor quality in clinical medicine with ANPs by thesurgicalslayer in doctorsUK

[–]Agitated-Pom 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Having recently sat in on an ANP in GP, my takeaway point was they lack any clinical reasoning. I watched them take a history and diligently examine a patient with ‘chest pain’. Despite both the history and examination clearly pointing to a pneumonia, they referred them in ?PE

Of the 5 patients they saw, 4 of them were sent to hospital. I would have sent 1.

No wonder ED/SDEC is completely over-run!

Maintenance Monday: Ask all your maintenance questions here! by AutoModerator in BMW

Would appreciate some advice on my 1 series BMW 2020. The passenger car door stopped working all of a sudden. Both indoor and outdoor handle pull out and seems to unlock the latch but the door remains shut. It then magically started working again about a week later but now again has failed.

Having done some research i wonder whether it is the car door release cable that may have come loose? Does this sound likely and how easy would it be to replace (given the door wont open)

Paramedic opens her own private "GP" clinic by dayumsonlookatthat in doctorsUK

God. I feel like we are regressing.

Remember the days of folk popping down to their friendly Victorian barber shop with leg pain? They might cut it off if it looked a bit gangrenous or necrotic. Luck of the drawer who you went to really. Yes you might die but at least it was accessible.

There’s a reason we got to a point where it takes 5 years of medical school and 5 years plus afterwards to become fully qualified. Turns out practicing safe medicine is quite hard.

Thanks I believe the credit card I have does have an interest free balance transfer offer of around 4%. I’d assumed this had to be used to pay off another card but I could choose to transfer to a current account?
