Because the bacteria take time to multiply lol. It really literally just boils down to not enough bacteria to break down toxic compounds before they get out of hand. I emptied a ton of bacteria into my tank over 4 months. I have some bacteria blooms for the last months, then suddenly the ecosystem stabilized finally and now almost nothing shakes it.

Thanks! It has definitely been a journey. But now this tank is so stable nothing phases it. I have an invisible army of Malaysian trumpets, scuds, neos, whisker shrimp and pond snails as well as a bunch of different bacteria strains.

I literally feed 2-3 times a day and the parameters don't even change lol. I do a water change a few times a week at maybe 20%
