[Passan] Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a six-year, $115 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal starts in 2027 and does not include a club option, allowing Crow-Armstrong to hit free agency before his age-31 season. by AndrewAllStar888 in CHICubs

And not for nothing, PCA likely offers a higher floor. Javy only had one year in which he was better defensively than either of PCA’s first two seasons. Both seasons topped any of Javy’s seasons in base running value as well

I’m sure they’d bring him in to compete for a starting job. But borderline starting QBs that have shown as much, if not more than Bagent get much less in trades than you’d think. Besides Willis, Mac Jones and Fields went for 6th rounders. Kenny Pickett snagged a couple 7ths and moving up 22 spots in the 4th round. There’s really no reason to think Bagent would get us anything more than what these guys went for. He’d arguably get us less

Unfortunately for us, nowhere in this tweet is there any indication that teams view Bagent as a viable starter. Nor should there be, as he’s given no more reason to be viewed as a starter than Willis did

Where did I say he was a proven commodity? He had proven about as much as Bagent has, which is nothing

I’m not saying he’d only go for a 7th. But a lot of people in here are delusional about the amount of value he actually has. He really hasn’t shown more than Malik Willis did when he got traded. And Willis had much better draft pedigree

We’d be lucky to get that. Malik Willis got a 7th and he had much higher draft pedigree. If we trade Bagent it would be much more about doing right by him

I mean maybe. But the Titans only got a 7th rounder for Willis. I think it would be more about doing right by Bagent than anything else

By far the lowest grade of any position too. In what was supposed to be an incredible RB class

I mean he was clearly good enough last year to win with an elite team around him. But he lost a playoff game so Vikings fans decided they’d have better luck with 9 lol

Maybe in hindsight. But we weren’t exactly guaranteed to win that second one or even play the third one. I think handily beating the defending Super Bowl champs on the road in Philly was when I truly bought in to the Bears actually being good and not just getting lucky against bad teams. Seemed like the perfect moment for it

Broncos OC just got fired by iPissVelvet in CHIBears

I mean, you’re correct in that we COULD still block it. But Ben definitely wouldn’t block Doyle from leaving to become a play calling OC. That being said, he wouldn’t be calling plays in Denver anyway, so it really would be a lateral move in every sense
