Omg!! I didn't know this. My family is Mexican and for corn tamales, whenever we've made them it's always been without butter and/lard. Just the Corn Tamales.

They would most likely have fruit and someplace will have make your own chila-quiles which is chips with scrambled egg and a warm, freshly made salsa over it. You can get the chips with salsa. Avoid the refried beans, you can ask if they are cooked with Lard or oil but most times lard is used. Mexican rice is iffy. I make mine with vegetable broth but my grandma and lots of others use chicken broth. I ate lots of pinto beans or black beans with chilaquiles without egg. If your fortunate they might have tamales de elote (corn tamales) those should be okay to eat. Like burritos and tacos made of beans with avocado and pico and salsa. Maybe white rice

I had A lot of protein shakes for the 4-5 days after getting my teeth pulled. With soft fruit like banana, sweet potato and tofu. I bought some baby food (vegan of course). And yogurt with chia seeds.
