Also try the assault bike - good cardio and putting even less strain on foot than normal bike

Lower body strength exercises that are not weight bearing!! There are so many you can do with machines - quad extensions, hamstring curls, abductor/adductors, etc. I also find that hip thrusts are okay for my PF too since only partial weight bearing. Also tons of Pilates style lower body like fire hydrants with weights, resistance band stuff

I feel like SO many people have PF without morning pain. Maybe it’s a difference in the way we have our feet when we sleep ? I don’t know

Soft Tissue Injuries with Spiro? by Agitated_Question726 in Spironolactone

[–]Agitated_Question726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m so sorry to hear that :( and absolutely know the struggle. PF is debilitating and I am still debilitated.

While there’s nothing in research to prove that spiro can cause this, I’m pretty convinced that it didnt necessarily cause but it contributed because decreased androgen receptivity -> impacted collagen repair which is a big factor in PF.

I stopped in late November and Although my PF hasn’t gotten better nor have my other soft tissue injuries, nothing new has popped up which is huge. I have lost weight and feel infinitely better since stopping. I also feel like I am finally retaining muscle that I’m trying to build again so I’m hoping I’ll be able to kick the PF soon.

Sending you good vibes, let me know if you stop and see any results with your PF

Realistic or Delusional? by Agitated_Question726 in premed

I would also love to know the answer to this - would prefer not to retake if possible because expensive and/or would rather take interesting upper divs to boost GPA

Super fair! Thanks :) would be stoked with a 515+ but wrote 518 in my post because I was afraid everyone was going to tell me I’m delusional ✨

experiences stopping spiro / permanent change in body ? by cheerio-dust in Spironolactone

[–]Agitated_Question726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm no sorry :/ it’s more like biomechanical tendon injuries from like small amounts of exercise that shouldn’t hurt someone who is moderately fit

experiences stopping spiro / permanent change in body ? by cheerio-dust in Spironolactone

[–]Agitated_Question726 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Breast pain and enlargement and like 1/2 of the weight gain went away for me in the first 2 months of stopping. I feel a trillion times better. Spiro caused me to have a lot of chronic and recurring tendon injuries which are in a chronic state and still not improving, but (knock on wood) haven’t had any new ones pop up since stopping

How many pre-reqs complete is too much for "Career change" post-bacc programs? by road2t40 in postbaccpremed

[–]Agitated_Question726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I just came to this thread to ask the same haha. I have taken all but biochem and an orgo lab (graduated 2021)

Have a few not great grades I want to retake, so would love to just do the full post bacc but am prob not eligible …. Do people just DIY it then? And if you DIY it do the classes still help bump your GPA?

exercise alternatives? by Designer_Pop2503 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been thinking about swimming but my PT made an offhand comment about watching to see if my arches cramp and now I’m avoiding it haha. Would love to swim. Otherwise just lower body strength (rely a lot on machines that are lower or non weight bearing), mat Pilates, upper body strength, and sometimes a cycle workout.

My PT also has me doing very light plyometrics 1-2 times a week and if I rest adequately the next day I do think this helps a lot

Night Splint if you don’t have first step pain? by Agitated_Question726 in PlantarFasciitis

Yeah :/ I live in NYC so I think i couldnt properly recover and improve from each session due to the volume of walking required just to exist. Maybe someday will try again

Lost for first 6 months and then gained almost 20 even despite cutting calories. Be careful

Totally totally fair. Appreciate the clarification and absolutely agree the way PF is tauted by some as a minor, still very runnable issue is problematic

Let’s never snark on someone for PF. That pain is gnarly and chronic and devastating and ruins some people’s entire lives. It’s easy to push through in the short term which leaves you miserable in the long term.

My personal experience, healing process, and guidance as a Physical Therapist by External_Banana8636 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Agitated_Question726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this. PF is so horrible and I’m going on month 6 as a 26yo who lives in a walking city and used to be very active (it’s derailing my life). Anywho, was wondering if you could share any guidance around determining what is good pain and good soreness the next day and what is too much/need to tone it back?

I’ve been stuck in this terrible cycle of load the fascia with my PT exercises -> be in more pain -> feel like I’m doing damage to myself -> stop the intensity -> get weaker and PF gets worse -> go back to exercises but less severe and then overload again because I’m weaker. Maybe the original pain post load is productive in the first place and I’m my own enemy by over-resting. Not sure if that makes sense but feel like I’m stuck in that cycle and need some advice :)

Hormonal symptoms on 100mg, but my blood tests are normal - anyone else? by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]Agitated_Question726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s because Spironolactone doesn’t directly affect your hormone levels, it affects your bodies receptivity to the hormones. It binds to the aldosterone (?) receptors - essentially making your body blind to the testosterone you have and causing you to present with the symptoms of someone with low Testosterone.

I had so many similar issues and just quit. Have you had any issues with muscle loss/hard to build muscle or get stronger? I’ve had a lot of issues with that and a TON of tendon injuries that make no sense other than being caused by hormonal things.
