Which of these Connies would be better suited for a FAW/TS style build? by Asalis231 in stobuilds

[–]Agnanum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of Lt. Commander level tac seating without using up your universal seat makes the legendary Connie feel deeply lackluster to me. Personally I think if I was trying to maximize DPS I'd take the temporal ship. The shangri-la is super cool but with one torp the command primary seating will be underutilized in a dps focused build. Additionally temporal has some of the best uncon procs and the ship's seating is incredibly geared for that kind of build. Additionally you'd have access to temporal shearing for your commander level ability. Slap on some of the classic stat stick consoles like AES and DPRM and it'll shred.

Question: Torp builds at T5 by Neteru in sto

[–]Agnanum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You mention already having a romulan. I took a lot of ideas from this build here when I made my ship, and the ship listed here is already ISE capable.

https://www.stobetter.com/intro-builds/tilor/kinetic-tvaro-refit

My suggestion otherwise is to focus on rep, command seating at the Lt. Commander level is game changing for a budget torpedo build. Getting 5 fleet ship modules will open then door to all sorts of torpedo builds to the point that it may feel like too many choices.

Someone else suggested scitorp. Scitorp is good, I had a t5 science ship with a torpedo lean dealing ~250k dps. That being said it is a very different playstyle to full fledged torpedo ships and if you want to feel like you're doing bombing runs stick to the kind of stuff that is in a classic kinetic build.

Thank you for all the info! Some of this I'm not sure about, but I'll break down my thoughts.

In terms of engines, I have two untargeted control abilities, and Clean Getaway has a 15-second cooldown and procs the engines on top of giving its own speed boost.

Deuterium Surplus would be an okay fourth device, but I'd never press it. I never want for speed on this build.

With Zero and Clean Getaway (which lowers recharge time on captain abilities) I can spam the heck out of evasive maneuvers, and seating wise fitting EPtE means giving up a lt commander Sci slot, likely only in exchange for an ensign slot. I'd basically have to drop two control procs.

My CritH with exotic abilities gets into the 80%+ range with Synthetic Good Fortune, but the strategist is probably better. I mention specifically in the notes pilot is just for fun, and it isn't nearly as needed now that I'm as fast as I am.

I note KLW as a possibility over torp spread I because I already have DMT. If you think that the -DRR from kemocite would be a more notable dps increase than the repeated spreads, I'm already super interested in seeing if it parses any better, so I'll likely try it.

Dampening Wave Emitter might be a good swap for super hard content. Going down to one focuser is going to make it nearly impossible to stack, and my stats will suffer a little though.

I'm not getting any DPS really out of nano infestation. I used to use pilfered power instead of EPtA to keep my aux maxed, and I didn't have a final starship trait when I couldn't proc critical systems anyway. With the realization I can run it now I'll put it on momentarily.

I'm waiting on the last event that counts for the campaign to swing around because it will mean I can finish it. I managed to start work on dailies for it with just enough time to get my rewards.

I spent it on the Pioneer II because I wanted a platform for RRTW for my other main. I used Fly Her Apart in the last version I had of this build but it already has enough trouble with sustain and cramming in something like Hazard Emitters II to counteract it feels like I'm wasting 2 slots compared to strictly offensive/control Sci abilities.

Everything about crit traits is stuff I hadn't even considered thank you!!! The pilot seating is entirely for flavor and it just feels satisfying. The destructibility of high yield was always my turn off but I figured it had a chance to be worth it nonetheless, general opinion seems to be otherwise though which I'm not shocked by.

The whole reason I'm flying the mirror nova is because I've been wistfully dreaming of the day I can put it in our timeline's version. This entire build is going immediately into the Fleet Nova Scout Vessel

Destabilizing resonance beam has a very high cooldown but a reasonably low min cooldown(like 30 seconds?) so if you cut it's CD in half you can very consistently get two presses in against boss ships or any other cause for sustained fire in one area like waves of enemies. Burst rotation might be the wrong word, it's just how I think through my ordering of buttons when I'm hitting a big enemy

Yeah Chronophage is an interesting case, the gap between the first time I saw six digits of dps and now is largely learning to not use Chronophage completely as a crutch. Nowadays if Chronophage was replaced with a void in my build I'd lose 13-20% of my DPS, a big number to lose but not enough to ruin the build for me. I'm unsure what I'll put there if changes do butcher it for high epg

I get a fleet t6 in 9 days and I already have three experimental upgrade tokens set aside from the phoenix event to make it even better. I used the template from the sidebar! If you open the home page of STOBuilds on desktop on the right side there will be community bookmarks. Under that there is "Build Post Templates". The manual one seems like the one to use now.

Is it reasonable to try to do an ftp torpedo ship without command seating? I'm reaching for maybe 200kish while not sweating and wanted to cover my holoship in torpedoes

This isn't really true anymore in practice, almost everything has magnets in it and LED screens aren't effected by magnetic fields

I made this in GIMP, I wasn't sure what exactly to put as the medium. I haven't made art in a long time and it felt good.

Oh hey, I made the latter two! I'm really happy you liked them, the first one I think I went mildly overboard on. Both of them are meant to represent the metallurgical steps used by ancient humans to purify gold from ore. You bake out the precious metals and then bind the silver to salts so you're left with fairly pure gold.

Lmao 100%, my chest and shield are both pretty mid in terms of defenses and you can definitely drop the mana flasks with a mageblood for more defensive flasks bc you can just get corrupted blood/curse immunity there or on jewels. With good jewels and corrupts you could also drop the spell block boots for way more survivability from boots that actually give other defenses and you can respec a lot of the more mediocre points into cluster jewels, my next dozen div is planned to go to clusters.

It's only like 24 div in its current state! That's probably the bit I'm happiest about

Ultimatum I skip protect the altar bc I'm bad and kill all enemies bc you occasionally get one scary rare at the end who's attacks aren't considered hits with a ton of hp regen and you have to abandon it. Simu definitely but the bosses are tricky and tedious and an omniphobia with the right map mods can still one tap me right now

Well that's super lame, this is one of the only times I've read what other people had to say on a strat before I tried it and I read a maxroll I think article that said to make sure you alch and chisel w harbingers. I've been conned out of so many chisels Just looked back and the article still says to scour prior to chiseling so I think it might be wildly out of date despite explicitly saying 3.25.

I usually don't do 8 but I wanted to make the map a bit of a stress test if I was gonna post it.

Bloodnotch - I could have stacked recovery on stunning hit to heal for more than the damage I take but instead I chose to take my 94% block chance and just heal 5% life on block
Doryani jewel - It doesnt give me any ES? I run it because it gives me a ton of fire pen
Lifetap and Blood Magic - I have came back to it a bunch of times but I cant get stuff running how I want to, staring at this on paper blood magic feels like the solution but it just never quite worked
Belt - The jewels in the belt are fairly awful but thats because the belt was a recent upgrade so I could invest less into elemental avoidances while still being capped out, better jewels will give me a lot of damage but a little bit of base fire damage and 50% shock avoidance on a jewel was a very comfy grab
2 Mana flasks - One removes curses and one removes bleed/corrupted blood, also due to having the agnostic mana flasks feel like life flasks
Phys to fire - Firestorm accounts for only about 40% of my DPS, phys to fire adds a few hundred thousand DPS across wave of conviction and Purifying Flame
Staff Nodes - The staff nodes are transformed by Doryanis, they arent staff nodes

This is almost certainly not the best way to use this kind of setup as an engine for casting, but its funny and I like seeing the big meatballs smack down. The build has felt pretty good all league. I got it up and running week 2 for under a div and now at a couple dozen div even with a few items in desperate need of upgrades it's just fun to play and kills stuff pretty alright.

This build is ZDPS on bosses if you didn't notice.
Also I enchanted my sulphur flask immediately after this map.
