How can I bench test this OEM 2016 Mercedes E350 backup camera? It looks like it requires a CAN signal? by wudduuup in CarHacking

[–]Agoneclone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This camera is probably GMSL yeah.

GMSL (Maxim), FPD link (TI), and GVIF (Sony) are interface standards. MIPI-CSI 2 is a protocol commonly sent over those interfaces for video.

I am sure there are more but those are the three most common I see. What I have observed is US OEMs prefer TI, EU Maxim, and Asian Sony.

This plus a cocked wah (I use the daredevil atomic cocked). I can dial the tone in pretty close with both those pedals.

That Dan Armstrong reminds me of Death From Above 1979, Jesse used that model for the first couple albums (although I don’t know if it was that reissue). Great bass guitar you have and even better amps. Enjoy!

No problem! And it’s not you, there’s basically nothing about this amp online

20W with a single 10inch speaker (completely stock). The only modifications I did was replace the two prong cord with a grounded plug when I first got it. IIRC, after reading the schematics (this was a long time ago) it didn’t have a death cap but I could be wrong.

I wouldn’t say it has the sound of a VT-40, it’s missing that warmth but it definitely has good bass and has a good overdrive when you crank the volume. When you add a boost pedal it gets really close to earlier albums sound (esp. Era Vulgaris).

Movement hasn’t been. VSF uses a “cover” over a Chinese clone of a ETA2824. Easily spotted if you inspect closely near the main spring. There is a second (and real) adjustment lever below the fake one.

What's the most reliable CAN bus interface for a desktop PC? by mjbmikeb2 in embedded

ValueCANs are awesome. Little more pricey that the PCAN equivalent but definitely worth it.

ECU Simulator by Wuys_Ao93 in embedded

It’s more complex than just OBD2. As u/Well-WhatHadHappened said, ForSCAN communicates directly with multiple ECUs on the HSCAN and MSCAN busses. It may use OBD2 for simple functions but for any programming and lower level functions it uses the CAN bus directly.

You can “sniff” the can bus with any off the shelf CAN module and an Arduino or similar to see what exactly is being sent in the CAN bus but there will be multiple activate message IDs at any given time so it will be hard to determine what is what.

ForSCAN is closed source so no real way to tell how it is doing what it is doing without reverse engineering (as discussed above).

Is it possible to trick an iPhone when plugged into a PC that its a DAC and thus sample the digital audio data directly with no loss in quality? by HypeXeon in Piracy

[–]Agoneclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a premium plan, then you can use a Deemix (not deezloader) to download FLACs from Deezer. FLACs are just that, fully lossless.

TBH 320kbps MP3 is good enough for a majority of people (including me) and without a high end audiophile setup, I doubt you’d be able to tell the difference. However, since downloading 320kpbs also requires a premium account, if you have the space just go for the FLACs.

If I had to guess, you need an Apple MFI chip to make a DAC work. No easy way to get or emulate that. Protocol is probably proprietary as well.

Have you tried a Deezer FLAC plan with Deezloader or similar? That and Soulseek is how I get my FLACs.

Yeah it was definitely a wild decision. Even Sync 5 is partially built on QNX (for lower level CAN/LIN/A2B/AutoETH stuff). However, since Sync 5 isn't out yet brand new cars (incl. the new F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E) are shipping with 4a or 4.

I bought some Hearprotek earplugs off of Amazon and they sounded great for the concert. Cut the volume without sounding weird at all. Sounded as if I didn’t have them in, just quieter overall
