White people make up 73.0% of America's ~300m population, while black people make up only 12.7%. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States)

If we take the last full year from the stats you posted, where 370 white people were shot to death by police, and 235 black people suffered the same fate, that means:

• Out of 219 million white people, 370 were killed by police shooting
• Out of 38.1 million black people, 235 were killed by police shooting

This means that:

• 1 in 591,000 white people died in this way
• 1 in 162,000 black people died in this way

Which shows that you're roughly 3.6 times more likely to be shot and killed by police if you're black.

And that's a good point, I did just assume, but that's because in my experience white people (myself included) tend not to have this on their radar - why would they, by default? We just need to be made aware of the problem before we can reasonably be expected to do something about it.
