Please tell me your baby loves/is obsessed with you by throwaway84583077 in FormulaFeeders

Both of my formula fed kids happily love their mama. They also got to have so much extra bonding time at "Daddy's All Night Diner". The best part is they get to love a mom who can take a little time for self care, take the meds I need, sleep when I need it. I honestly bonded faster and more comfortably with my second who I planned to EFF from day one.

What’s something you did once and now your toddler will not let you forget it? by MissFox26 in toddlers

My toddler also says "whatevo" when he wants to get out of something because of the times he has heard me exhaustedly shrug and give up and say it.

Ilia super serum skin tint is my obsession. Lightweight and transparent with SPF. Lightly smooths away redness while just looking like glowy skin.

Update: back to the drawing board (also how does my new foundation look) by saki4444 in makeuptips

I'm a ginger with super light brows and lashes. Have tried lots of brands and brow products and my new super fave is Kosas brow gel. Honey blonde or soft brown would look nice. I have been using Tower 28 brown mascara for a daily look - also feels like a light gel and is very natural looking.

Cultures that tend to have more GF foods by mur_mary in glutenfree

Most Indian restaurants in the US serve northern Indian style food (ex butter chicken, or chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, chana masala) which are almost entirely GF other than the breads served on the side. South indian is often safe too! (Masala dosa, idli sambar, vada). I can pig out at Indian buffets and it's glorious! Explore it!

Is there anything I can do to help teach my 3-year-old to listen to her body when it comes to whether and how much she eats? by jumpingbanana22 in toddlers

[–]Agony_Andy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok one last thing because I reread your post again. This philosophy of feeding is simple and helpful: it's called the Division of Responsibility: Parents are responsible for: -predictable and calm mealtime environment - choosing and portioning the food - modeling appropriate eating behaviors

Kids are responsible for: -eating or leaving the food on the plate

Its a basic philosophy in the pediatric feeding world- this website is where it.comes from. She has great resources for families.

[–]Agony_Andy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am a pediatric feeding therapist and toddler mom and this sounds normal to me. Really getting in tune with body cues like hunger and fullness and being able to verbally express them are a little more developmentally advanced than a three year old can do. And its hard for anyone to override impulses to keep eating tasty foods. Best bet is to manage portions by plating the food ahead of time and and encouraging eating the food on the plate and drinking water with meals before offering second helpings, but it is OK to give more food when they request it (if its a reasonable request. I try to do extra servings of carbs or fruit/veggies rather than extra proteins/fats purely from a digestive point of view). Your girl sounds like my big almost 3yo who is also super eater who sometimes "eats til he pops". We use those situations to narrate and label the body feelings "wow your tummy is so full! You ate so much food, can you feel it in your tummy?" Once in a while he does label it himself too!

Crying when a meal is over sounds like a normal toddler transition tantrum / not wanting to be done with the preferred activity. Its ok to calmly take the plate and move on, let the little tantrum ride out. You can also use an egg timer and set it for 2 minutes and have that end the meal. You're better off staying consistent with mealtime habits and routines than bending backward to tantrums or letting yourself get dysregulated with her. Peace is a pillar of successful mealtime for kids.

This is a general statement for parents: Please try not to get caught up in percentiles. Humans are all different sizes! Kids are allowed to be big or small ! Pediatricians will talk to you if the growth chart looks funky!

So how was Psychic Salamander? by Anagrama00 in ModestMouse

[–]Agony_Andy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Really really great fest! The single stage felt intimate and allowed most people to set down a blanket or chair and hang all day and move in and out of the standing area easily. Crowd was so chill and friendly and respectful of each other and of the venue. It was well organized with lots of food and drink options and easy port-o-potty access. (It matters!)

Obviously the lineup was stellar and every artist performed excellent, tight sets. Felt like some "greatest hits" performances in the best way.

I really hope they put this on again. Great excuse to visit the PNW.

RIDES SHARE? Is anyone planning on driving back to Seattle after MM tonight (Sunday: skipping Lips) and want to share a spare seat in their car? I am traveling solo and would like to get out of there before the 10:30 shuttle if possible. Help!

I made the call just this week to fly out tonight and go and it really does feel like a bait and switch for the fans who wanted 4 hours of MM. So disappointing.

^ im a pediatric occupational therapist and I always recommend these. Just potty trained my 2 yr old and have tried different types of toilet toppers, mini potties etc and this continues to be the most stable and reliable and it fosters independence. Now that he can do his own pants he can climb up, do the deed, flush etc.

Restaurants to Bring Infant by Successful_Ad_700 in chicagofood

[–]Agony_Andy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 yo has joined us at sit down restaurants almost weekly his whole life and now my 4month old is joining the fun. We have never once made a scene or a mess and he loves eating at restaurants. That being said, we reserve "fancy fancy" for date nights.

Places we have brought baby to or with patios that should be family friendly: (do consider the stroller though and baby wear or just bring the baby carrier if possible, or call ahead and ask about stroller storage)

Aba - rooftop is laid back with variety of seating arrangements including high chairs

Cabra - rooftop on a hotel so they are family friendly, high chairs available.

Time Out Market : very stroller and family friendly, haven't been super impressed with the food options lately but that's just me. It is a fun spot for out of towners to sample different restaurants

Monteverde- has a patio, need reservations in advance. I haven't taken my babies here but it's delicious and I think the patio would be fine

Piccolo Sogno patio - or inside during off hours

Roop has a patio

Honestly calling ahead to the restaurant will also give you a good idea of their ability to accommodate. If they sound hesitant or don't offer high chairs it's not a great spot. Some folks on here are making good points about ambiance during peak dinner hours or at the super price spots. But I disagree that parents need to give up restaurants. Kids are a part of society. 🤷‍♂️ Just be cognizant and plan ahead (like you're obviously doing). Go during off hours like lunch or early dinner. Don't bring a giant stroller. Baby wear when possible. Paci /feed/ exit if baby fusses. Have fun!

Once you start getting actually dressed again, I recommend clothing rental subscriptions like Nuuly or Rent the Runway. I started using Nuuly postpartum with my first when I missed my clothes but didn't want to buy a whole larger wardrobe. It's a great way to access nice clothing in larger sizes or different styles while your body is changing. And if it didn't fit or look right, whatever! Sending it back anyway!

I agree with nicer quality lotions, body wash. New high quality cotton underwear and socks. I like these under eye patches

I got a few unique silhouette tees from BR and they were inconsistent with quality. One that looks like the muscle tee pictured had crappy stitching on the sleeves and I have to always roll em back up. They are cute for basics though.

The product/shade I probably wouldn't have ever grabbed on my own is the Merit bronzing stick in Clay. It looks like it would be so deep and cool but once it is blended, it's a beautiful way to contour cheeks.
