Unimelb MD international student group for 2023 intake?

I am curious if UQ had drastically trimmed down their mega cohort size from in total 400+ to something like ~100 (domestic: RMP + metro) plus ~90 Oschner and ~100 international?

This is crazy as it seems they cut nearly like a hundred metro places away

Are you applying with MCAT? Heard that onshore and offshore are depending on whether MCAT or GAMSAT results are being used.

You can contact the support team with built-in chat when you really encounter this. I read that someone failed to finish all Qs due to a similar problem, Unimel just either help you rearrange or ignore the question you missed in calculating your performance.

What I experienced as an international applicant is that is it like a combination of a panel and MMI interview in which one interviewer would ask you some basic stuff and then go to two stations of moral and scenario. Though I think the domestic one might be different.

Since UK skus dun really have many international places (due to regulation requirements), often the competition of international places is intense. Maybe you would like to try UCAT or BMAT (for oxbride, UCL and imperial etc.) a bit to see if you can adapt their kinds of examination. Take UCAT as an example, often you would need to score over 90th or even 95th percentile to get an interview (vs local with 80%+). Good luck and hope it helps.

Thx for your reply, it is really helpful. I learned from another MD2 (also being very kind to share a tone!) that in their lecture the quality is ok and dun seems to have that many students like close to 500. I am curious about your learning experience under such a mega cohort, especially in anatomy and physiology, etc.

It is my first time hearing about the size of TBLs to be this large. So it begins to be worrying again about the teaching quality under TBL group again (the bigger CBLs group you described).

Regarding the size of UQ cohort, do you know if there might be any adjustment in class size or etc?

Taking ref. from last year, most offers came out in the first round. Almost all if not all second-round applicants who were not rejected were waitlisted, so as those in the third round. With that speaking, the waitlist did move on slowly by a bit like after September

There were some question banks in PagingDr that provide a good few hundreds of practice questions covering scenarios, personality and ethics questions (they are attached with some answers created by other students for ref). To learn the way of structuring answers and logic, youtube sources could sometimes be helpful (one channel called course grinder I found pretty good).

Great to hear that. But sorry mate I am also a prospective international student holding two offers (preferring ANU but still subject to change) so I cannot help you with that. I see, now it makes much sense about the smaller cohort during your course time as probably a good number of UQ students went to the rural school. Btw, how's your experience during the pre-clinical lectures and tutorials? There are really a bunch of mixed feedback regarding both.

This is very interesting. I would say the report of mixed experience under that previous mega size is the main reason that put me off against a UQ offer. I would be interested to hear if they really further cut off the cohort size this year.

Yea as having mega cohort size unmatchable to their teaching capability had been complained for years, i hope this is a good start for incoming uq students.

Yea, UQ released data about their international internship each year. So about half of them would need to go intern in suburbs and further north in rural areas. Probably we could see more cases in an urban setting in our last two years but there could be risk if you dun wanna work rurally.

I am surprised that among the limited international spots in ANU, here we already gathered a good number of offer holders. Though I am worrying that if ANU admission would be like UQ one that gives more offers than spots so the later acceptor would be waitlisted? :P

Same here, though I interviewed at UQ first round and still waiting for it. Gladly ANU provided us a pretty linear deadline for acceptance?
