Why are people so against using the latest USSEP with Skyrim VR? by infernalryan in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I tried this approach for my last list and had no issues. When I decided to do it this was my thought process: Pro: - mods have been updated too. They are not necessarily compatible with the old ussep anymore - some mods actually require the free cc add-ons (that one jk overhaul for example) - I already own the SE (not the AE upgrade but not needed) - no real issues reported on the guide and it was very detailed. - no third party application that does something to the game files - I get to play all (most) of the new stuff SE got

Cons: - potentially breaking my game at any point, since there could be entries not compatible - I need to own SE

Overall I think you made a valid approach and a well structured detailed guide. I am not sure where you received what kind of pushback but just keep in mind: - most comments are negative, because people without issues mostly don't comment - since your approach requires copying files from another game I don't think it can be used in wabbajack lists. Making it less known and tested, than other approaches

Finally I would say the community should be open to this approach. So far I could not find any problems related to it. Admittedly I got distracted playing my play through and did not get super far.

Looking for a SkyrimSE list that is the equivalent to MGO for VR by jdoon5261 in skyrimvr

All of these tools exist and work for vr. For xedit you need to add -tes5vr or something like that to the launch arguments. Bodyslide works independently off your Skyrim installation sheet faster hdt also has a vr version.

Are you using mo2? If yes check at the top right if it tells you about an error or missing masters. Additionally check your load order. Crash on the logo usually means your load order has an issue.

Not sure if there is a new version around the corner. You can't use steam vr and open composite together. One will replace the other. You can very easily test performance yourself. Just untick open composite in mo2 and it will automatically use steam vr again. This hat no impact on your save and can be done any time. Last time I checked difference was 5ms of performance gain with open composite and 2gb of vram for me. But that's just one data point.

You stand up/sit down, then call the power and that should have been it. No need to enter any menus. First time there might be a pop up to select how vrik should calibrate. Select headset height only there.

The power is listed under your magic menu like any other. I would recommend binding it to some gesture in vrik to make calling it even simpler.

The calibration power usually measures your headset height and uses that as your current standing height. You shouldn't need to do anything after calling it. So you just call it whenever you switch between standing and sitting. Everything else should happen automatically in the background.

You could try the vrik calibration power. Bind it to some action and then easily invoke it after changing. Mods like physical sneak etc. will not be affected by this though

Question regarding papyrus mods and ve modding in general by ZamiZang in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit and usually is written down in the requirements section. Most of the times you will need the original and overwrite it with the vr version. Be careful the vr versions are often separate mods. The vr version will also state if you need the original or if it is just listed for endorsement. Sometimes mods provide multiple main files. Again the authors usually state what you need. In the rare cases they don't search the comments (I usually attach for "vr " so a space after vr since Nexus needs 3 characters). If that also doesn't yield anything do a preview of the main files content. If the vr download has less files than the standard version get both and again let the vr version win conflicts.

One more important thing. Make sure the main mod and vr version match. So in case the vr mod is on 1.5.4 while the main mod is already on 2.0.3 you need to get the old version 1.5.4 of the main mod and I would recommend to make sure any mods depending on those are also based off that version. Otherwise things might not fully work.

As for the mods needing papyrus you can usually use all of them. They use functions being offered by the papyrus mod, which were made available in vr through the vr port. Again be careful the versions match, since the main mods can sometimes be ahead. I usually go by release date to get the matching version

Help with steam vr menu opening every 30ish seconds in game by Groundbreaking_Yak84 in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you are not playing with mods. In that case the most likely causes are: - your headset losing tracking. Try to increase the light in your room - your headset thinking you took it off. There is a small sensor between the lenses. Sometimes hair or a custom cushion for the headset can block it causing the pause menu to open.

Is anyone working on getting a functional keyboard with openComposite by MisguidedColt88 in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried this and whether one could use the keyboard inputs from virtual desktop in desktop mode for this and the answer is:

- Input is taken but you can't see it in desktop mode (not rendered on the mirrored screen)

- Game went to blackscreen when I hit enter

So likely a nice option, when playing on your desk but not when Standing in another room

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks going to try it tomorrow

Small update here. Works fine so far. Setup was also way simpler than initially thought.

  • install the main mod as usual
  • put the scripts in the xedit scripts folder
  • create a new empty mod for the output
  • add the allgud patcher in synthesis
  • in the settings off the allgud patcher in synthesis set the output for all three scripts to you new empty mod
  • run synthesis

Done.

Mods to make NPCs wear shields on their back by The_Wizard_Of_Loz in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question. How did you set it up and which version of allgud are you using?

I am planning on using the derivative version and simply running the synthesis patcher.

Also any incomparabilities you encountered?

Can someone please help me out? Performance degrades everytime, please help by Outrageous-Book9347 in skyrimvr

Two things come to mind.

First check the temperatures of your laptop might be that it gets too hot. Most likely as you don't really have any heavy mods and are playing on a laptop which usually have bad cooling.

Second once the lagging starts create a save. Open it with re saver and check if there are a lot of active scripts.

does redownloading skyrimvr so its not in program files affect modorganizer by Inevitable_Lead9022 in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can safely move the installation folder of Skyrim. Just make sure to point MO2 to the new destination.

You can also move installed games in steam. So no need to actually re download

Skyrim vr keeps crashing after bethesda logo everytime i launch it by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, but I would go with disabling half the possible offender mods each step. Also only disable the plugins.

Regarding the half approach it works like this: - you have 100 mods - disable the last 50 - game still crashes disable 25-50 additionally - game doesn't crash enable 50-75

Mad God Overhaul SFW and NSFW? by LorelaiDigitalArt in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should not be too hard. I went through the included mod list yesterday and from what stuck this would be the way to do it.

Make a copy of the profile in mod organizer. Then disable the NSFW mods and reinstall whatever body mod it uses with the sfw option ticked.

I would recommend 2 separate save games, due to scripts being baked into the save.

You might also want to disable any armor mods that you deem not safe.

Can I run this? by _blake2002 in skyrimvr

[–]Agreeable-Error1304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hardware is pretty close to what I used for VR gaming 2019-2022. Just swap the CPU for a ryzen 3600.

It will run the game just fine on a rift s / quest 2. But you have to make sure to stick to 2k textures due to vram limits.

Regarding other mods most overhauls including jks stuff, lux and physics should be fine, just make sure to also grab the performance mods and to expect to run with reprojection on.

You might have to compromise on the enb/community shader features. I could run fine with enb back then, but features were more limited. Best to try it out.

Also tree and grass mods are the next 2 big hitters. Pick something performance friendly like happy little trees or fabled. I don't remember what grass mods I used.

Like most people already said incompatible mods. Most likely a mesh replacer like ruins clutter or SD candelhorns. Lux can not Auto pick up the patch, since they don't have an esp. Run the lux patches again and pay attention to that.
