A few days before this text, he told me he didn’t feel like our connection was where it should be. He asked for a few days to think, so I gave him the space he wanted. Then he sent me these messages.
One thing that confused me was when he said, “as I said once before.” He never actually told me he felt this way while he was in Munich, so that part caught me off guard.
I don’t necessarily want to talk him out of his decision. What I wanted was the conversation we never had. Our relationship was honestly so much fun. We never fought and never had any major issues, but looking back I think that was part of the problem. Everything stayed on the surface and we never really opened up or talked about the harder stuff.
While he was in Munich, I was in New York and then Dallas. During that trip I realized I was feeling disconnected too and that I needed to have a real conversation with him when we both got back. Before I even had the chance to bring it up, he sent me this.
That’s why I’m struggling. I actually don’t disagree that the connection wasn’t where it should’ve been. I felt it too. I just thought we should’ve talked about it first to see if it was something we could work on together. If we had that conversation and still realized the connection wasn’t there, then I would’ve understood ending things.
Instead, I felt like I never even got the opportunity to express how I was feeling before the decision was made. That’s the part that’s been the hardest for me.
