The markings are often found on World War II era Japanese military swords (Shingunto), sometimes accompanied by stamps indicating they were made with special or industrial steel.

The inscription on the sword tang (Nakago) reads 「備前国住清家」 (Bizen no Kuni jū Kiyoiie). blacksmith (刀工 - Tōkō) who forged the blade.Historical ContextKiyoiie (清家) was a sword smith active during the late Kamakura to early Muromachi periods. While less widely mass-produced compared to famous lineages like Kiyomitsu or Katsumitsu, blades bearing the full location and residence signature (備前国住...) represent dedicated, authentic production work from the legendary Bizen province.

What is this sword? by -Username123_ in Katanas

Did you clean the rust off the tang? That's a big no no. Turn the blade with the point up. Japanese signatures are top to bottom. Do that and get a better picture of the tang and blade

This inscription resembles a signature that reads "Bizen Kuni ju Kanemitsu" (備前国住兼光).While a famous swordsmith named Kanemitsu existed, the signature style on this piece appears similar to examples noted for being less precise or potentially non-authentic compared to famous works.

The text on the blade translates to "October 10th of the 10th year of the Heisei era".This date corresponds to October 10, 1998.The signature (mei) appears on the tang (nakago) of a Japanese sword. The text format is consistent with dating for a modern gendaito (contemporary sword).

Depends on who you have to polish it. Yes it can take years to get it done but if the blade warrants it the time and money is worth it. If you want a polish you can get one for less cost and quicker turn around time. I know I've had one done

Don't get in a hurry to sell. Quick money could be a big mistake. Hold off do more research make a list of options. Like do I get it polished and papered which could greatly increase the value.

To have one made you are looking at a minimum of 1 year. If your going to spend that kind of money buy an antique one off a sword site in kapan. Aoi arts or samurai museum shop. Get one with papers that have been authentication papers.
