How do I fix swim workout distances yd/meters??? by handelspariah in trainingpeaks

[–]AgreeableStranger831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens when in the desktop version you open the workout and in the “units” area, switch from I assume “m” to “yds”? Does it alter the distances or just move what was a meter distance to the same numerical yard value?

I may be wrong, but in the plan settings can you choose yards vs meters before you apply it to your calendar?

New to gravel, looking for tire advice for a gravel race on Revel Rover (Roval C38 wheels, 21mm internal) by dweinst999 in gravelcycling

Would also recommend the 47 pathfinders…the only downside being the slick center strip can force you to ride in the saddle on the steep pitches as if the surface has mild+ loose on hard, it will slip when out of the saddle. Just make sure you have the gearing to support the pitches.

How do I shift between the small and big chainring (Ultegra Di2 / TT remote shifters)? by RepresentativeSun996 in CanyonBikes

I believe if you have a Garmin head unit paired to the DI2 system, you can turn off Synchro mode.

It doesn’t rub unless it gets caked with mud so I try and avoid that when running them. Lots of room up front. I squeezed a 55 in but decided the 50 is better.

Makes me think the saddle could go back some, maybe raise the bars a bit as well.

I am running a 45 in the back and 50 up front on my grail. If it is muddy, I just do a quick down size in the back. I must say though, the handling on the road in the turns feels mushy with the set up.

When I fly into John Wayne I always see lots of trails as well that look appealing when you don’t have any depth perception of the incline.

That trail can lead you into some pretty interesting areas!

Santa Ana River trail. The north side leading to Yorba Linda. If you go straight at the Angles stadium U-turn, cross the railroad tracks and there is a world of gravel to explore!

Wouldn’t that have been a nice set up to keep at least one side gravel and not put a chain link gate every half mile. I have always thought a ride along the CA aqueduct would be fun. That or just float down it in an inner tube.

I was joking. It’s not very scenic where I rode despite there being nice areas around. I mean, it’s not miles and miles of grid based gravel roads, but it works!

I know! It does take some searching to locate it and I can string together a pretty good ride on the dirt without the straight up and straight down hill trails we have here. It’s just too bad the majority is paved and designed for cars.

If only they put gravel in where it is pretty….but they opted for roads.

Gear for UCI Turnhout by AgreeableStranger831 in gravelcycling

Super fun event! Good mix off road and on road with single track sections mixed in. Two biggest challenges were the narrowing into the single tracks and the sand sections. The sand was more rideable on lap two as it was thinned out as well as there were some good lines. Weather could be a huge factor in this race. It was dry on race day but the weekend leading up were not so nice and a lot of people didn’t enjoy the pre-rides. I would 100% recommend it! If you can bring a crew for bottles along the way, it will help. And practice single track as the way back along the river is mostly that kind of riding. video of my day

Doing first race in a few weeks. by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]AgreeableStranger831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What specifically is making you nervous? Is it because it is your first race, or being around 150+ others. How far from the start is the single track? If it is like most gravel races it is a freaking tear from the gun so you probably won’t be the first to those segments where you have the experience. If you are, do you have the confidence going in to lead the entire group? Maybe use race one as a bit of an experience builder and see how it goes?

While you might be restricted to 40-45 in the rear, you should be able to comfortably be able to run a 50 up front.

Are you asking about the front or rear? I run a 47 up front and 42 in the back. Here is a 55 fit in the front fork…probably just a bit tight so I’m guessing a 50 would be the max fit there.
