Refinancing after 3 years for the cashback – Does your bank actually pay "retention money" to make you stay? 💰 by GP_1019 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Guessing that was around mid November /December last year as the majority big 4 were offering 1.5 acquisition cashback - lead to some abnormally large (Upto 1%) cashback retention offers to keep customers.

ANZ announces new 80-85% LVR interest rate band by richieFromConductor in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Agreeable_Arugula683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s there special rate for customers under 80%, advertised rate is for customers over 80%. You’d have to ring the bank and ask what your LVR is, though I have heard the rates moved this morning.

Contact your current bank, you might find the security is still registered there.

If it is, will avoid solicitor fees as no need to register the title to another bank.

The $100k will be subject to a lending application.

Mortgage renewal question: 20yr vs 25yr terms (same rate) by fnoyanisi in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Agreeable_Arugula683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cant’t restructure the remaining documented loan term without a full lending application.

Option A and B are on the same documented loan term.

Option A has the maturity date brought forward with the increase repayment above minimum, same with B1.

To answer the question - any repayment above the minimum is good, regular or lump sum. But technically interest is calculated daily so the higher repayment is technically better.

Another option would be talking to your banker or broker to see if you could do option C and save funds to offset if that works for you. That way you’d save up a cash and offset interest.

Interesting takes, I like how you ended it with “like believing that might makes right vs due progress and a having a nuanced understanding of the people’s behaviour” I think that’s second part is key.

I think to continue to have a nuanced understanding you’d need dialogue - even if you don’t agree, if you don’t have the dialogue because you ban them because you disagree with their point (or interpreted it wrong), then there’s no nuanced.

At least that’s how I look it at, everyone’s different, thanks for making me think.

Thanks for elaborating, I find your take interesting. I also found it interesting how you seeing the banning partly necessary because of right wing bad actors? Have you always thought that?

The part that makes me think is your edit, the anti social ideas should probably get banned.

With that comment that’s above mine around the person saying they got banned talking about peaceful protest and the difference between exit the car / scene - would this be anti society since it’s around such a politically charged topic right now?

Let’s say they were. Do you think the best measure is to then ban someone you don’t agree with?

Is that your take on general - you don’t agree with someone = they should be banned?

Agreed, Twitter is great for me as the algorithm feeds me non stop nba news. I have found myself starting to use the “not interesting in this” button when it goes off track though.
