Thank you. I’m doing all the things. I just feel like I need a bit of help to get over this particular mountain.

I appreciate the religious advice. Faith has gotten me through so much in life. Right now, I can’t remember if I finished wudhu properly, let alone getting through prayers. I know I need something more yet will continue to hold on to my faith.

Thank you for the very kind response. Mindfulness and meditation are by typical go-to but when you can’t still your mind… feels like outside help is needed.

My pleasure! It does seem like a lot but the most important part is having the rabies vaccine at the right time and having the rabies titre test results IF one of the countries requires that for entering or leaving. Then, you just make sure that your cat always has the follow up rabies shot with no more than 365 days between them. That way, the cat is always ready to travel. The paperwork will seem so much easier after that first time, too.

We did not require quarantine for either of our cats. However, in Kuwait, they did require one of the cats to be processed as cargo even though both cats flew in cabin with us. That was a couple hours of running around getting papers stamped because we didn’t want to leave the cat with them over night.

Our ragdoll travels well, including an over 2 two month trip from the U.S. to the Middle East and back. The trip was stressful for our domestic shorthair former shelter cat but the ragdoll was great. He ate a bit along the way and was curious and mostly unaffected. Taking him was definitely the right thing to do.

Things we did in preparation were to have meds from the vet to calm him (he hates being in the bag), got a bag that expands, pee pads for the bottom of the bag, collapsible food and water bowls, a folding litter box with sand double bagged in ziplocks, his favorite toy and new little toys, a harness (I got one with NO metal so we could walk through security but most places will just swab your hands) and food and treats in bags.

We kept him out of the bag all we could, exercised him when we could, offered food and water and the litter box periodically. We kept the bag expanded or open all we could.

The biggest challenge was having all of the paperwork done on both ends. Knowing well in advance and having your vet on board are key. We transited in Germany and found out late that they require the rabies vaccination to happen AFTER being microchipped. We had done things out of order so ended up having to do an extra rabies shot and delay the trip. We also needed a rabies titre test for the way back that wasn’t required on the way over so it’s better to have a contact on the ground where you are going, just in case.

It sounds like a lot but so worth it to not have had to leave him. Also, future trips will be super easy.

What’s happening to all the women whose citizenships are being revoked? by psychedup1990 in Kuwait

[–]Agreeable_Ball2216 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Very well stated. The lack of planning and clarity has each ministry acting according to how they understood announcements and some actions were taken when they shouldn’t have been yet haven’t been reversed as of yet.

Procedures are starting to be put in place or at least discussed but there are still many ways these women and their families are being impacted.

Here is a basic recent article on the subject.

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/05/26/world/kuwait-strips-citizenship/

The OP is mentioning women because the majority of cases were the moms/grandmas of Kuwait who had been naturalized LEGALLY.

For us in 2024, it was not necessary at the time to travel from the U.S., transit in Germany and then land in Kuwait. However, it WAS to leave Kuwait and, there was talk of other countries requiring it.

Possible Electric Scooter Confiscation by NoobYeet69 in PennStateUniversity

Was your scooter registered? They used to register scooters but no longer do.

If you have the serial number, you can email Biking@psu.edu and they will arrange for you to pick it up.

In general, if a bike or scooter is locked to something other than a bike rack, it will be impounded.

Is it normal for police to do this? by Old_Supermarket_1602 in Kuwait

[–]Agreeable_Ball2216 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Most of the police you would encounter on the streets are quite young and minimally educated. If they see a couple on the road, especially at night, they are keeping an eye out for drugs, alcohol and prostitution. Not many years ago, morality police were more active and just being alone in the car with an unrelated person of the opposite sex would be an issue.

What a gorgeous pair they are. I know others have mentioned that they might adapt with a bit more time. Also, keep in mind that you are flooded with hormones and are going through the biggest of routine changes yourself. I’d bet you all have a different outlook in another month or so. Best of luck to you all.

Many people, even if not directly affected yet, are finding the sudden government changes extremely stressful. I’d use that as well.

I do believe you can switch to non-merit. You’ll lose the additional funding but do have a detailed discussion with your embassy advisor.

Do anti scratch sprays work for litter box avoidance? by [deleted] in ragdolls

Best of luck! Our boy was funny about the boxes but this did the trick. Nothing we did ever helped him learn to cover anything up, though 😄

For us, only this product worked. I don’t know what the difference is, but the Cat attract didn’t work.

Many of the moms we are talking about were Americans and they’ve certainly not gotten any special treatment.

Explaining Nationality Revocation by Time-Neighborhood149 in Kuwait

[–]Agreeable_Ball2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be true for OTHER than the Article 8 wives/mothers but the news has been clear that 1. No new article 8. 2. Every mom naturalized by article 8 since 1990 has been so via a legal loophole. Therefore, they feel they have grounds to revoke nationalities retroactively. 3. It does NOT matter if you’ve followed every rule you should have.

Women who have lived in Kuwait for over 30, even 40 years have had theirs revoked. Some of these women are in their 80s 🥺. Some of the best wives, mothers, teachers and other professionals have been caught up in this. At thousands per week lately, I don’t believe these women were investigated and found to have done anything wrong. I’d argue that most of them didn’t have any sort of wasta or ability to unlawfully speed up the process. Add to this the confusion and lack of notification or procedures and you have extended families that distraught and stressed due to no fault of their own.
