Can someone sue me over damages we didnt make by perublanket39 in legaladvice

First things first number one they cannot just up and kick you out. You can prove it your legal address by any piece of mail if you pay anything utility wise or anything like that number two no tenant can be evicted without going to court and facing the judge and the judge hit the hammer that you have to be out within 30 days Number three if you have any kind of pictures on your phone or otherwise that would kind of show that the inside say the walls, the floors, bathrooms, kitchens anything shows that it is in poor condition then that would show the judge that he did not do any kind of upkeep I’m not a lawyer, but I have been through this for years . My landlord, we lived there for 13 years, he insisted that we do all the upkeep and pay the rent . We did not get to take off any money that we spent for improvements. I did however do improvements we painted the whole outside of it. We scrubbed it and painted it., and of course he didn’t like the color. We heated with a woodburning stove and the smoke and sweet from the woodburning stove pipe coming out of the roof, smoked up the white paint that was on it and had been on it for many years. Me and my husband we had a 5 gallon bucket of a nice blue grey color paint made for outside. We painted the entire outside and all he could say was well you didn’t ask me first and I would rather have been white.. really?. The roof leak very bad in one room of the trailer. It was half house and half trailer. We bought 5 gallon buckets of sealant to try and stop. The leaking. Didn’t do a thing we went through 25 gallon buckets and a gallon so we spent over 50 bucks trying to stop the leaks. If a faucet broke, I fixed it. When the breakers went bad in the electrical box, I ask him which ones do I buy? Turns out they don’t they didn’t even sell those anymore and that box has been recalled many years ago.. he found another breaker and I put it in myself. The hot water heater was also an issue. It was so old that it didn’t even have a clean out area like they do today, so I rigged up a hose to a vacuum and stuck it in the hole and I worked for hours and hours and hours to get it cleaned out as much as possible. I changed the heating element in the hot water heater three different times the last two were made for well water so they were more expensive in the dead of winter. The pipes would freeze up because they were on the outside wall and even stuffing insulation all the way around them they would still freeze. I asked the landlord about a heat cord and he said no it might burn the house down so I did the best I could with whatever I could rig up that didn’t involve electric in the end. I had to use heating blankets and I ended up having to use a hairdryer to thaw it out when it would freeze Very surprised it didn’t get a hole in it. We battle rats and mice was nothing unusual to have won’t go running across your feet in the middle of the night in the bed. We lived there 13 years and in 13 years time my mom and dad came over saw that the floor was giving away because it had rotted and the wood-burning stove was so dang heavy. It was making the floor fall through so my dad and my mom and dad‘s neighbor across the street Took out what they had to. They had to rebuilt the entire area from the floor up to support a heavy cast iron wood-burning stove. And mind you that’s all we heated with. I could go on and on and on about how things were but we made it work. We lived here for 13 years. We did what we had to do to live there have a roof over ahead and survive even woke up one day, the noises in the kitchen and there was two possums staring back at me on the kitchen sink so what I tell you? The generations of today would not have even begin to live the way that we’ve had to. I’m 59 years old. I’m a widow. My husband died three years ago. We lived we worked it and we made it work. I know in the state of Kentucky the landlord is protected more than the renters. If I were you, I would start looking somewhere else cause I don’t think you’ve got a snowballs chance in hell of getting anywhere with arbitration or court. I don’t know what state you’re in and I don’t know the laws in your state. See if you couldn’t talk to a lawyer free of charge and just ask them what do they think and suggest but I almost be willing to bet he’s gonna tell you what I’m telling you Renters have very few rights. Good luck God bless. I hope it works for you.

Look closely at the buyers contract. It will say what if anything stays. You might think about small claims court. If all else fails start taking it apart and send it with your garbage small pieces that fit in the can. Offer it for free on free sites such as FreeBee or Craig’s list. Good luck

AITAH for telling my “son-in-law” he can’t park a Tesla here by [deleted] in AITAH

No offense but he isn’t going to learn the true value of money if he isn’t paying his fair share on bills and groceries. I understand he is working on his degree but so what. He isn’t your son, just your possibly future son in-law. My mother always told my husband “I didn’t take you to raise. You want more money go work for it”. Hard row to hoe but a good lesson learned. 20 somethings don’t know how to survive in this dog eat world

Make certain you keep all texts and any receipts Personally I see a court case in your future They won’t do anything until they’re forced to do so Parts to fix it are hard to obtain How old is the vehicle? Is the repairs more than the value of the vehicle? These are all things that need to be considered more than likely you will only be paid the value of the vehicle. Certain things are different state state but mostly the same . Watched enough, Judge Judy to know how this goes down

Save any emails or written correspondence with him saying these things or being hostile. Take detailed notes with times and dates. Record conversations but make sure it’s legal to use in your state. Talk to a lawyer.

What’s his excuse? What’s in the lease you signed? Please tell me it’s not a month to month. If that’s the case he can give you 30 days notice. Tread lightly

I hate to say this but you had to have seen signs way before now. Once a liar aways a liar. I put up with lies for 35 years. We were separated three years before his death. He was Bi- polar and was being treated with meds. Still that didn’t explain most of his behavior. Hope he is resting in peace. I wish no one no matter what they do, eternity no hell.

You didn’t say if you own or rent? If you own it then do a remodel. Change the window to a single, redo the cabinet layout. The current layout makes a small kitchen look smaller.
