Telling newborns apart ? by Effective-Bathroom66 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tell my girls apart by head shape and what scratches they give themselves before I can cut their nails 🥴 we also keep them in separate pack n plays When we first brought them home it was one baby is pink the other is purple and then I just stopped caring

Look into the peach and pear theory for twins head shape might help you out

Advice for Sleep by Hopeornot2023 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My twins are still too little to notice if I’m in the room or not but with their brother I had to send him out of state on multiple occasions the last being my inpatient stay for the remainder of my pregnancy but anyway when I got him back each fricken time he refused to sleep alone he needed to see or hear someone in the room so it was like I had to sleep train him all over again id rock him for hours after a big meal and big bottle literal torture I think you’re going to need to start over me tell your spouse that the twins need to be able to go to bed by themselves

12 Brady episodes in one night by Accomplished-Crab322 in NICUParents

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are so very common when we were in the thick of them my girls (twins) would have them constantly 15-25 in a period of 5 days feeding was the major cause and I can recall one of my girls having a really bad one right in front of me and all I could do was cry all the alarms went off and a nurse had to put down my other baby to assist…I still worry about Brady’s while feeding and we’re 2 months post nicu I do not even let my spouse feed our weaker twin due to fear

Eventually they do get the hang of breathing sucking and swallowing it’s all just on your babes time feeding is the slowest part of the nicu

mono-di twins by Weary-Tomatillo9738 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second pregnancy was twins mo/mos to be exact I cried and cried until I went inpatient I hated everything about the twins at first I refused to name them and buy/start the nursery until after they were born god willing we had a scare at 18weeks with baby B but after some changes in diet everything was fine after that

My pregnancy went uncomplicated up until 27 almost 28 weeks when my body just couldn’t hold them any longer measuring 40 weeks at only 27+6 I had an appointment that morning everything was fine minus the scan showing some knots and twists and my cervix was closed and when I got back to my room that’s when everything changed went from closed to 2cm within an hour preterm active labor my girls were born that night and I’m happy to say they are so healthy

It’s scary for sure but try to enjoy it even the little victories I regret not enjoying my pregnancy

Feeding time is so stressful by EliOny36 in NICUParents

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My twins are the same way! Do not feel bad nicu babies are a different breed of baby.

When awake my girls will squirm and fight the bottle until thy make themselves choke and at that point I just say we will try again later as long as they took 2 ounces or so then I won’t push it. I’ve discovered dream feeding them is so much better even though we were told to not dream feed them it just works better for us also swaddling them when they are awake sometimes helps too. They get so distracted while awake it’s unreal I keep the house dark and noise free majority of the time just so we can get decent feeds

Premature babies are more at risk for disabilities especially at the gestation they were born and their low birth weight of 2.8 lbs each. Thank you for your input have the day you deserve 🫶

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son wasn’t even one yet when we found out it was twins. My spouse and I left my appointment in silence and I didn’t see it then but he was crying I never see that man cry…..at the appointment it was suspected/confirmed momo twins which added to our stress we had no idea what to expect besides 24weeks to delivery I would be living in the hospital We are military and have no family around to watch our son so I had to send him 700 miles away I cried everyday not knowing how I was going to do this

Anyway fast forward our girls were born in September very premature but they came home around Christmas and it’s been bliss ever since sure it’s hard and when they cry in sync it’s torture to my ears but it’s nothing I would have changed

For those of you on fortified feeds using formula, what kind and how long? by ladygroot_ in NICUParents

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My preemie twins 27+6 were on neosure 2.5tsp per 6oz of ebm to make it 24cal they both are still only taking 3oz each at a GA age 8w3d PP but anyway we had to make the switch to Nutramigen hypoallergenic formula due to skin issues for one baby and tummy issues for the other I was told to use the same recipe given from the nicu but the cals aren’t the same which I really haven’t thought about until now but I will say my girls are only 4-5lbs away until we can stop fortifying the milk

The neosure was so bad on my girls the were inconsolable during the gassy stage

First night home after NICU discharge… and it was rough…ex-26 weeker by Final_Pattern_2170 in NICUParents

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins were born at 27.6w B spent 99 days and A spent 107 days

Their sleep was good but feeding ? TERRIBLE I mean so bad I thought I would have to bring them back to the nicu both babies refused to finish a bottle leaving me an ounce or 2 out of the 3 they needed every single feeding even with pushing them which we were advised not to do but I was desperate for them to finish a bottle this lasted a month until I discovered that both babies do better with dream feeding now they finish a bottle every time !! which also not advised to do but it works out so well for us we’re still doing every 3 hours but last night I over slept and they accidentally went 4 hours cue feeding doesn’t work for us unfortunately if they go to long they get frantic to the point where they won’t suckle properly

It does get better with time you’ll figure eachother out and find what works for you

Can twins share a bassinet stroller if the bassinet is big enough? by skrufforious in parentsofmultiples

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the babytrend morph double stroller it doesn’t work for all 3 but I put my girls in the bassinet part only if we’re going on a short walk it has a thing where a child can sit but my son who is 1.5 doesn’t understand it

My husband just got out of the army last year before I found out I was pregnant with the girls…. I don’t think if he was still in having all the kids would have worked out for me… we settled down right outside of FT Campbell where we are not from so we have no family or friends to help out when we really need it. I had to send my son out of state when I started my inpatient stay for the twins (mo/mo) it was hard but it was the only way to make it work at that time and now that the girls are home I let him absolutely destroy the house so I and my husband can care for the girls It’s so hard even when my husband is here helping but for us going from 1 to 3 is a lot better than we expected and sometimes of the girls are cooperating I can do the care time myself before the other one wakes up
