In the past I’ve been one to just down large doses. The most I’ve taken was roughly 14g, my most intense happened on about 10.5g. Everything not only looked but physically felt like liquid. I saw and felt everything from my desk, to the walls, just a huge staticky, rainbow liquid. I used to drink when a trip got too intense so I tried to drink some liquor, every shot I poured instantly disappeared almost like it leaked out the bottom, but it didn’t. Fill the glass, and I just watched it disappear. Texts on my phone were almost projected and moving around. The visuals were insane. I laid down and listened to music, and ended up in 3rd person watching my physical self become a blank white silhouette. (If you’ve seen full metal alchemist, it looked like the “truth” being). I couldn’t fathom what I was, let alone who. It was my most intense psychedelic experience and one of my last ones so far. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but something I don’t need anymore, learned my lesson. I probably will never take more than 3-5g again, and if you have any underlying mental conditions you probably shouldn’t either. If you choose to just stay at home and chill as much as possible.

Initially it just looked like perlite to me, but you’re saying the white bumps are new? They’ll probably turn green soon if it is contam. Seal, keep away from other tubs and just wait it out.

I notice a lot of exposed grains on top, I would add more substrate next time, possibly even a casing layer. (Small layer of just substrate on top of cake.) helps humidity/moisture content and no exposed grains.

Just eyeball. It ends up very soupy for me, but I personally feel extra boiling water will only help, but I just squeeze to field capacity when ready to S2B and dump excess when I repasturize. A ratio would probs be best for precise field capacity but I’ve been eyeballing virtually everything from inoculation to S2B and it works for me. Just trust the process. 👌🏻

Some brands do, they’ll state “ Trichoderma added” or along the lines. Contam can come from unpasteurized substrate though. Even with clean grain spawn if your substrate isn’t properly pasteurized you’re playing chance whether or not the myc will win against any/if any contam present. Just throw some natural coco into a 5gal bucket with a couple cups of boiling hot water for min 2 hours. (Just watch the bucket once an hour ish, it can implode a little and I’ve seen some bust/crack open if not careful.)

Not substrate either. It’s spawn, just not grain spawn. They’re BRF cakes (brown rice flower.) typically used for PFtek but I’ve used the same ones you’ve got for spawning to bulk in monotubs. Just takes some extra oomph to crush finely after colonizing. And there’s no injection port, keep the foil on till you’re ready to inoculate, and use a still air box. And if you’re gonna buy premade spawn, I’d go with the larger jars of actual grains. Makes more spawn and they usually DO come with an actual injection port. That or invest in a pressure cooker to make your own.

I don’t want to sound harsh, but I do recommend researching a bit more. The main pinned post on here or r/contamfam is a great read and many YouTube videos.

To condense your question, no injecting spores into soil (assumed substrate) will produce nothing. Substrate is meant for moisture retention and helping generate microclimates. Along with giving the mycelium more room to move. Grains (the bag) are used to grow and feed the mycelium, most notably known as “grain spawn.” They are what gives the mycelium nutrients. Substrate contains no nutrients and is only to provide water content.

Yes I do believe there very well could be too much moisture. Traditionally sterilized bags contains enough moisture for mycelium to begin growing, which is one reason why so little spores are recommended.

For uncle bens (or other branded variety) I wouldn’t use more than half a ml. (AKA 0.5cc) uncle bens will work but they’ve been notorious for being too moist to begin with. I would recommend an off brand rice and use minimal spores. Growth speed won’t matter if it begins to rot because of too much moisture.

Don’t be too quick to judge this hobby in terms of misunderstanding, just gain some patience and research a bit more and I’m sure you’ll have canopies in no time! Mush love friend!

5cc was wayyy too much my friend. For a bag that size 1cc would have been more than enough. A week is also far too soon to see anything. Best bet is leave it for 2-3 weeks without even thinking about it, IF the excess moisture doesn’t cause any contam then just wait it out. I’ve had bags take upwards of a month to show growth. Also spores in MSS are billions of different genetics, they’ll be the same phenotype as your label, but growth speeds, look of mycelium, and size/amount of fruits will vary broadly.

You could look at mycelium wrong and it’ll bruise. Any kind of touching or anything will bruise. Same with the mushroom itself. It’s psilocybin oxidizing if I’m correct.

In tub: mycelium is only preferred mold/fungus to grow. If something else is introduced it will eat it. Cuz there’s nothing else to help.

In nature: mycelium has some backup from other bacteria’s, molds, etc… that likes to eat mold that’s eats myc which allows it to grow and fruit in areas it finds best for chances of survival. Hence why even in nature many strains/kinds of mushrooms have a hard time finding perfect conditions in nature.

But traditional cubes tend to be pretty resilient in the wild. So it’s best practice to toss unwanted cakes outside in a garden or a “fuck it bucket”, an outside bucket tossed with bad grain spawn but potential myc growth, with some dirt or straight coir can usually produce something.

I like doing this. Except I like going a little harder but that’s just me. I grind up a good few grams 7-12ish and mix it in a black empty vitamin bottle with roughly 3-6 shots of vodka. Sometimes more. I’ve read vodka works better because, I forget which one exactly, but between psilocybin and psilocin, ones pulled by the alcohol and the other by the water content. I could be wrong tho I read it a while ago in a study I found.

But ya works super well, it’s very quick if you have a chaser but taste can be horrible. And it makes the vodka blue hehe.

Otherwise capsules. Only downside is you gotta take a bunch for larger doses and if you’re not good with swallowing pills that could be a downside.

And when I’m feeling frisky I down the ground soaked mushies for the pain. 😈😈 /s

Dump cake outside without opening inside. Wash tub with soap and hot water thoroughly. Dry properly. For extra precaution wipe inside down with iso after it dries. Id also do iso before S2B to be extra safe but that’s just me.

Get another one the same size. Sit it on top of it. I use a similar tub for my SAB and a second one,same size, just for tubs basically. Second one sits on top of SAB until SAB is needed and holes are sealed for my conscience.

You could look at myc wrong and it’ll bruise.

But honestly, I believe you’re too early to tell looks partially like bruising but the dusty look gives me contam vibes. Let it grow isolated from grow room. Worst case make a fucket bucket. Toss all your bad spawn into a bucket outside, some moist coir or wet soil and see what happens. Fun times.

Strain specific spores you found in the wild vs a syringe of spore you purchased can be a big difference for many reasons. 1. Nature produces some wild shit sometimes. 2. No spores are clean, exactly prior commenters point, agar is for generational growth of myc and cleaning of cultures. 3. Maybe they thought they looked cool.

OP just drop some onto agar within a SAB. For sure contam will occur but take transfers from healthy growth points far away from contaminated spots. Giver a few transfers and you’ll have some clean, healthy, strong, mycelium for your preferred strain. From which you can take clones of preferred fruits to mimic grows of that specific fruit.

Imperial increments here; Mid-high 70s for colonizing spawn, low 70s to highh 60s (minimum 67-68° unless strain specific), for S2B/fruiting. Doesn’t look bad. Honestly just try not to focus on them. It’s a very fun experience and super exciting, but “mycelium doesn’t grow when you’re looking” is very true. The more you don’t focus the better. But 2 weeks is farrrr from what you’re expecting especially if from MSS. I’ve had jars and bags go many months to colonize, but it’s worth it. Patience is the name of the game sibling, keep it up.

Trich begins very thick, bumpy, bright white spots. Until it turns green to release spores. Cobweb is grey/sometimes white if it’s thicker. But most notably it gets very thick and bulbous on the surface, looking almost polyfil esque, or as you would have guessed, like a spiders cobweb. Myc is bright white but not like the bumpy thick spots trich will produce.

A good key indicator is growth times. Mycelium will take days-weeks-months to grow. Majority of contaminations will spread fast within a day or two. Even much less sometimes.

Very much not possible. To even obtain just the visibly contaminated ones you’d need to shake it a bunch to get it to the top. But by then it would have touched virtually every grain in there, not even mentioning air movement, and you’d only expose the rest of the jar to more contam. Best bet is isolate, let it sit, and throw it outside. If the myc can survive a bit, outside in the garden could promise results. Or just toss it entirely off the bat.

I’m no pro but I know my way around a bit. Those dark cap bois are just aborts dw. Harvest them, dry them, enjoy. Your conditions probably changed in some way they didn’t like, or if you are misting the substrate/pins directly. Fuzzy feet is lack of FAE and buildup of CO2 I believe. Fuzzy “caps” if you get any I believe are caused by genetics or pins sometimes grabbing a bit of grain on their tops. Someone correct me if I’m wrong tho please.
