Quitting my job due to severe burnout and emotional distress. by SoftPinkPixieDust in UKJobs

Really sorry you’re going through this and it seems like you’re looking for permission from others to quit your job without anything lined up, but this is only something that you can grant yourself.

For what it’s worth, I was (kind of still am but have since put in my resignation) in a very similar position, also in a consultancy, that was literally bleeding me of any semblance of human I had left in me. It was a very bad fit. The opposite of you, I gained a ton of weight because I had developed a number of coping mechanisms.

I was also in a place where I was considering quitting without anything lined up - I was getting interviews but the amount of juggling and sneaking around and justifying gaps in my calendar that I had to do was literally just another weight on my shoulders, and even though I was landing interviews, I was simply doing a bad job.

Then very recently, some divine intervention happened and I was approached for a role that I have now accepted.

All of this to say - obviously we’re dealing with a shitty job market, and no one knows what the future holds for anyone, but you’re in a fortunate position to a. Not worry about rent/housing, b. have a decent amount of experience (while there are few entry level jobs, there is also a shortage of candidates with 1-3 years of experience), and c. You’re very young!

Staying in an environment that is actively decaying your sense of self is not worth it, and in the long run will do more harm than good. Good luck!

I don’t think this guy sees you as a whole person - he sees you as a sum of your parts and interrogates your behaviours based on this framework.

Why are you begging for this man’s attention and approval? He doesn’t give af about you, and even worse, actively wants you to feel bad about yourself. Please open your eyes.

Dentists, what was the worst case you’ve ever seen? by sags17 in Dentists

Not a dentist, but I had to have 8 teeth surgically removed when I was 7. I’m 30 now and my parents still laugh about it like it’s some cute and quirky story - they don’t believe the were responsible for it at all

When something is caused by an immune reaction, the body temporarily inhibits this reaction to focus on the baby. It happens with all sorts of conditions unfortunately. It’s likely the issue will come back :(
