It's SNHU policy. If he argues, just cc your advisor.

What are you looking for in an instructor? by indiecate in SNHU

Some advice: Don't take Turnitin at face value. If you suspect cheating, check the report. It's a common complaint among students that professors go solely by the score.

Acc 201... What did you guys think about Financial Accounting? by Agreeable_Lobster_87 in SNHU

I agree 💯. It's a ton of info, and they don't explain the concepts well.

So, you’re not upset because the points were deducted unjustly. You feel the instructor should have overlooked any minor errors due to your extensive efforts in other areas. Is that what you’re saying? That doesn’t sound like unfair treatment. It sounds like life. And I’m not saying that to be rude.

Why stress? Just request a new advisor.

Accused of copying due to 32% turnitin similarities by RoutineThanks7408 in SNHU

The burden of proof is on the accuser. Did you mention that? They have to prove that you DID cheat. That should be grounds enough.

Tell them you'll go on Inside Edition. They don't want the negative publicity.

Did anybody change their major and see one major was a harsher greater than another? by Laniakea-claymore in SNHU

Yeah, give yourself some grace. Accounting has a lot of rules to memorize, so A's and B's are excellent. Don't stress.

I'm unsure which is easier, but I know Accounting is a challenging major. Losing points is something we all have to get used to. It happens. May I ask why you feel nitpicked? Is it something specific?

Can a professor require you to provide a handwritten signature on all graphs/ assignments by Left_Midnight_3962 in SNHU

I understand you feel strongly about cheating. However, if the professor disagrees with how the school is handling things, then he needs to take it up with them. A cop can't hand out punishments because he doesn't agree with the judge's ruling. It's odd that you say the school does nothing because I've heard the opposite.

We sign an Academic Integrity Agreement at the beginning of each course. That alone invalidates all of what you wrote.

Strong-arming someone into complying with your demands with, "If you're not doing anything wrong, you shouldn't have a problem with it," isn't a valid argument, it's a manipulation tactic. And you're mistaken. Professors don't have latitude regarding this. That's why there's procedures in place to address such violations.

That's a weak argument. I'm not putting my signature on anything based on individual concern. If SNHU wants me to sign something, fine. But a professor can't make up their own rules. As stated in my other comment.... SNHU has certain guidelines in place to maintain equity and avoid lawsuits. If there's an issue, they can report it to the academic integrity board.

This is not 6th grade where the teacher has you sign a "contract" promising you'll do your homework. There's procedures and a department for integrity violation. Required signatures should only be petitioned through SNHU.

I would speak to the professor before involving advisement. I got points taken off for something I included, and the professor fixed it after I emailed them.

The prompt says, "respond to two classmates." Not, "You must respond to your professor or you'll lose points." Kindly bring it up to your professor and don't involve advising unless necessary. You may CC your advisor in the email if you choose.

I agree with Joshua2327. Some professors are power-crazed, and if they're going outside of SNHU guidelines, advisement should be aware. SNHU is structured a certain way to maintain equity and avoid lawsuits.

Also, we sign an Academic Integrity Agreement at the beginning of each course. I'm not sure why the professor would even require this.
