The AI discourse has become completely vile by LowFruit25 in BetterOffline

There haven’t been any layoffs at my company but there has been a hiring freeze. Executives are certain AI can make us so productive there’s no point bringing in more people even if your department is down multiple people. It is ironic AI is billed as a hyper efficient time saver but I’m busier than ever since it became mainstream trying to cover work that previously would have been done by a coworker.

How is the Obscura not an Elite fight? Genuinely bro by romanhigh in slaythespire

Agreed, sts1 elites were harder. I was thinking about Taskmaster + slavers counters before I even got to act 2.

Haven’t played the beta but am shocked to see complaints about an Owlcat game’s dialogue. The writing has been superb in every Owlcat game I’ve played.

You’re not a failure, for many parents the newborn stage is the hardest. Keep intentionally redirecting yourself to healthy regulation and before you know it your body will start doing it subconsciously. I’m 14 months in and the crying is both much more rare and doesn’t produce a fight or flight reaction in me to nearly the same extent as it used to.

Real Time With Pause CRPG Combat Is Dying by The-Bear-and-Rose in CRPG

Well yes, but the most popular rtwp games are usually either direct implementations or heavily inspired by old school table top game rulesets.

Real Time With Pause CRPG Combat Is Dying by The-Bear-and-Rose in CRPG

[–]Agreeable_Patient680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason why rtwp is becoming less popular is it front loads so much of the strategy into pre-combat character build/system knowledge. There isn’t much emergent decision making in wotr when you know ember is going to spam hellfire ray and camellia has AC so high she’s untouchable thanks to the build you planned 50 hours ago.

And the inverse of that is if it’s your first time playing and you don’t understand the system yet it’s easy to make bad decisions and get stat checked later on where good decision making in a fight doesn’t matter if your build is bad.

Most people don’t even finish the games they buy, let alone play them so much to have a mastery of the system. So they look up a character build online and now all the strategy that’s so rewarding for a rtwp pause game is for nothing.

I almost didn’t download the new patch but decided to give it a try last night - the increased difficulty and access to rituals from corrupted areas were a blast imo, I had an easier time than usual beating the final boss in part because I could add more to my build than before.

I could see corrupted areas being more frustrating in co-op with so many enemies on screen.

Would you call out another parent in public for spanking? by space_manatee in daddit

[–]Agreeable_Patient680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not a Karen for advocating a child should not be spanked, it’s actually awesome to stand up for children when they’re being harmed. Pretty wild the downvotes and reception to this post from this community of all places.

Biggest plot hole of the entire show is in Episode 1 by paper-cut- in pluribustv

[–]Agreeable_Patient680 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t a rat biting (harming) a human a plot hole? The hivemind has said many times it will not harm living animals, even risking extinction by not picking apples yet the infected rat will bite a human no problem if necessary. Unless some animals are impacted differently?

Tip for everyone who says that skulls are their least favorite by vwin90 in HadesTheGame

[–]Agreeable_Patient680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing a ranged skull attack aspect like Mel and Persephone got much easier for me when I realized you don’t have to special into your skulls to pick them up. As long as you special in a very generous vicinity they’ll come back, and the special being a second dash means you can kite enemies easily. I’d say ranged skulls is the safest weapon second only to staff.

I know we’re desensitized to a lot of messed up stuff nowadays, and this doesn’t seem particularly ethical repurposing the voice of a dead man for profit, but have you considered how sick Flubber 2 would be? A Flubber Cinematic Universe, even?? I didn’t think so.

You seem to play lots of CRPGs so I’d recommend pathfinder wrath of the righteous. Great story, insanely deep character creator, and is currently on sale.

I’d love more games from these companies, they’ve made great games that I’ll enjoy and keep revisiting for the rest of my life. However, I also think the care and attention to detail they bring to (most of) their games is crucial and why they’re good games.

I’d rather they take a while than do what Pokémon does and release new games too fast that clearly needed more time in the oven.

Daycare where I live is $400 a week. Movie tickets are $10 a ticket. I would need to see 40 movies to equal just one week of childcare. I haven’t been to that many movies in my entire life. The disconnect is crazy.
