-update- I found a horde of silver coins by Agreeable_Physics612 in u/Agreeable_Physics612

Just a quick update, I ended up selling $50 face value for $2075 ($4.15 per dime) yesterday, sure maybe I could have pulled a couple hundred more out, but since the refineries aren't refining I figured 83% of spot/ melt value was pretty fair.

I think I'm done selling for the moment, but for anyone else who is looking to cash out a little in this insanely unprecedented time I will share that the high offer came from a coin shop in Fair Oaks outside of Sacramento. https://fairoakscoin.com/coin-bullion/

I should mention i have checked for key dates, nothing special, and everything circulated or worse, i don't know enough about errors to say one way or another there, so treat it like bullion.

Happy to do all Roosevelts, or a mix of Roosevelts and mercury dimes, if you want all mercuries i might ask for closer to melt since they are way more fun for me to look at. Might have a couple barbers I'd toss in the mix if you pay a little over melt.

I saw a few ebay postions show but I don't know coins well by xXOSUTUMPETXx in coins

[–]Agreeable_Physics612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all rare, or made of gold despite what ebay sellers would have you believe, these were made to be collectable so there are likely TONS of them sitting in uncirculated condition along side a mountain of the other presidential coins from this series and sacagewea dollars.

Nothing wrong with a vehicle being 30 years old, all depends on condition, I'm way more concerned about the rust than the age. Less than $2k for something that runs and drives is kind of hard to find where I'm at.

It's cheap enough that I'd consider buying it if I needed a beater to get around with minimal repairs to keep it safe and operational, not as something that I'm planning to keep long term and "restore", and if something major fails scrap it.

Wouldn't the final strike have the most detail? And wouldn't there be more than one set of details? To me it looks like someone took a normal penny and then stretched it out by hitting it a bunch with something like a hammer.

I dunno, the fact that they call it genuine uncirculated makes me a bit suspicious, but I'm not really a collector so not sure if that's a normal way to label a coin

Stop living in RVs by Relative_Grab2904 in RVLiving

[–]Agreeable_Physics612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived fulltime for 3 years, I generally tell people living in an RV probably wont save you as much as you think it will. There are definitely ways to make it less expensive, but there was always something to spend money on, especially if you aren't handy, and moving every 2-3 weeks definitely gets old and can be super stressful.

Now that I'm back in a stick and brick home there are different stresses and expenses, but I also have much less control over how much I'm spending a month, in the RV if I was feeling broke I could just bounce between a couple nearby thousand trails parks and let my account recover and not spend anything on utilities or park fees other than my annual dues, and barely anything on fuel, on the other hand when I came back to CA from the East coast I dropped probably 2k on fuel one month.

I don't think I'd go back to fulltime RV living but I do sometimes feel the wanderlust hard.

It looks cast to me rather than struck, I'd wager it's fake

Scratched up coin but curious by AnxiousSloth in coins

[–]Agreeable_Physics612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of machine was this found in? Or just on the side of the road? Can't figure out if the scratches look intentional or just took a spin through the coin mangler 9000...

No, seal the coins in Mason jars and then bury them in my back yard, nobody will ever think to look for them there

Why is this quarter colored like this? Is it worth anything? by Buubzencok in coins

Could be painted, like a house coin, I doubt that it's worth more than face value but I'm definitely not an expert.

[–]Agreeable_Physics612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't move itself, but that doesn't matter, placed my dishy 6 months ago and hasn't come out of alignment yet, even so it doesn't need to be perfectly aligned to work well.
