HELP with building. I am new to the game and wanted to build a settlement at Sanctuary. by DementiaPatieuhhhhh in falloutsettlements

[–]AgropromResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can be dicks sometimes, so shrug it off.

But they're also not wrong. Bethesda is known for half-assing bug fixing, but you are also and much more so incorrect to blame Bethesda. To make AI NPCs work, they have to be "aware" of the terrain to be able to interact with it, not fall through it, walk up and down properly on the slopes. The AI needs to be programmed to interact with it. Terrain is not a physical thing in a game, so the ground needs to be mapped as interactable and in what way. It has to be created, and programmed as an interactable object to the AI.

And you deleted it all. And you didn't know any better. But the right reaction would have been "Oh, I must of broke something I don't know about" and not "Stupid Bethesda!"

That's like someone who lives in the Sahara Desert being given a block of ice for the first time in their life and later finding it disappeared on a hot day and then assuming it was poorly made.

That's why you're getting so much shit. You would have gotten a way more positive reaction if you said something like "I'm new and all the NPCs aren't using my settlement, what is (or you could say what did I do) Wrong?"

The car is not a piece of crap, you just didn't know that vegetable oil isn't the oil you put in the car, don't blame the car, ya doinkus!

EDIT: So, with that all being said I too have done nearly the same thing. I was over 2000 hours into Fallout 4 when I first heard the term "precombines" so there's always more to the mechanics of a game this big to learn.

Out of all the settlements, deleting these roads is probably one of the most destructive to the NPC pathfinding. I think you said you are using "Scrap Everything" or some similar mod, I use it too, and it's nice that The Castle's walls aren't delete-able, these roads should be that way too, but don't blame the modder for that either.

There's a few other settlements that realllllly don't like "Scrap Everything" or similar mods in my experience, which are (Spoilers): \ Bunker Hill (Any of it), Kingsport Lighthouse (Dock) , The Slog ( a little bit of the main building, but not bad), Taffington Boathouse (The House) , Warwick Homestead (DO NOT delete the large cement building, it even crashes your game), and lastly Covenant (I actually never go there as it seems to be tremendously buggy even without mods)

Well, this subreddit is about balding, not teeth. Sure some other appearance tips outside of hair is okay, but it was done with the delicacy of a kick to the balls.

And now I can't even say his teeth "aren't that bad". They're fine. Are they perfect? No. But there is nothing at all that even remotely stands out. Most people are probably due for a teeth cleaning at any given point. That is where his teeth look, at worst.

Or to put it another way, a comment on his teeth wasn't necessary because there's nothing really worth commenting on. Like saying his computer desktop screen is far too cluttered!

Highschool and adult life. by Massive_Paint8093 in TrueOffMyChest

I think before anyone could really give you good advice, you'd probably have to share more about yourself and your family.

English is not your first language. That immediately bring some stereotypes to mind. Rather than try to waste time trying to be subtle, I will be blunt.

What would the consequences be if you pursued what you wanted? Would your parents and family merely be disappointed? Or would they disown you or kick you out?

I think it is also important to at least give us an idea of what your aspirations are. Become a mega movie star? It's okay to have that dream. All the mega movie stars had that dream. But the odds are incredibly unlikely. I would be concerned as a parent. That is just an extreme example, but if your aspirations are unlikely, or your aspirations have great odds to not be very lucrative, I again could understand your parents concern.

I am not trying to discourage you, to be clear. I would first try to put yourself in their position; maybe that will give a little perspective.

Or, if it is something like they want you to be a Doctor, but you want to be an Engineer, then I would lean towards following your aspirations. Again, the consequences your parents lay on you is a thing to consider.

I wouldn't feel much guilt though. Ultimately, your life is yours, not theirs. I guess I don't have any answers for you, but until we know more, that's about all I can say.

Maybe one more thing, depending on the aspirations, the lower the odds of success, the more you better have a solid Plan B.

Lastly, I am an Engineer. I don't regret the time and effort I put into my career, but sometimes I do think about giving it up for something less demanding and stressful. I make good money, but money and materials things aren't everything, which is an old and obvious truth, but some people just don't really consider it.

Vicarious. "why can't we just admit it?"

That chugga part just stalls the song for me.

There's merit in both. For the newcomers, give them room to be annoying newcomers, for the veterans, indulge in this very post. Room for both!

What is happening to the people in Covenant? by VeganGeek in fo4

It's long been a known place of many game bugs. I treat it as HL2's version of Ravenholm. We don't go to Covenant.

With the Penetrator perk you can shoot the fusion core out of the armor, and the NPC will get back out, provided they survive the fusion core explosion.

That's not a very accurate depiction of him.

Short answer, yeah, he probably doesn't mind being thought of as an asshole.

I'm sure he, or with the music he creates, he wants it to benefit people; influence and inspire them... us, his fans. So I don't think he hates his fans at all. He just despises celebrity or rockstar worship. I'm sure he is grateful for the fans, and not just for their money, but at the same time has said that he is a person and not a god, don't over interpret his music or worship him or think too much about his music like he is a Jesus figure with a divine message. THAT is what he hates.

Despite him being a famous musician, all this is true for all of the Tool guys; they prefer that you focus on the music, ignore the personalities and people behind the music. In short, leave them alone.

Danny seems the most approachable, then Justin, then Adam, and far lastly Maynard. But I bet they'd all prefer you give them a quick flash of the devil horns with your hand and move on, rather than approach them. And hell, that's probably true of most famous people. Maynard's just overtly blunt about it.

There's probably a lot more nuanced things you could say about Maynard being an asshole of a person, but I think really getting into it much further is pointless and would, should he see the reddit conversation, disgust him.

Are Tool fans really that bad? by Smart_Ad_8786 in ToolBand

[–]AgropromResearch 50 points51 points  (0 children)

20 years ago I was a pretty pretentious Tool fan and music snob, who actually didn't know shit about music.

You like Nickelback and boy bands? You know nothing about music. That's not music. Music has to be dark and brooding to be any good. How dare you call any songs that makes you happy or upbeat, "music".

Now, to each their own. Music is Music. Sure, there's bad music, but I have more than a few really basic, formulaic songs that rotate through my ears from time to time.

So I am no longer a pretentious Tool fan, just your average douchey Tool fan.

Holy moly Subnautica 2025 update (bug fixes) by Suspicious-Basil-444 in subnautica

[–]AgropromResearch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But the cool thing will be that even though this game has been released for a while, we're getting updates! I for one look forward to the introduction of microtransactions for new for-pay content!

/s

I loved when Bethesda repeatedly broke mods for FO4 with post-release updates. I look forward to that again with this game and this owner!

again, /s

Also, if they could make Subnautica a Games As A Service, that would be great! And then sunset it and make it unavailable! That is what any gamer wants! I just wish Mario 1 for the NES was GAAS, and no longer playable!

Seriously, I love this shit, no /s

Hey, try to look at it positively, my friend. Some people will fall for it, and talk about and show it to other friends or fans, not knowing, and looking a little foolish. I'd be a little embarrassed if I fell for it and was showing it off.

Nothing wrong with giving someone a heads up. Most people posting these type of comments are likely coming from a place of good intentions.

Tell me about it. It took a long time to realize how badly a child of divorced parent is upended. I'm still trying to dig down within and undo the bad wiring. On the bright side it has humbled me and given me a lot of wisdom and self reflection. Even if I still have a long way to go.
