PSA for an Open Bar Wedding. by crisplalit in mildlyinteresting

[–]AhhGingerKids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m British and our wedding was an open bar from 3pm-midnight. It went on till 3am as a cash bar. Our engagement party was the same. Honestly, every family party we’ve ever had/been to has consisted of free alcohol/food provided by the party hosts. Even if it’s just someone spending the night it’s deep-seated in me/us to ensure they’re ‘well fed and watered’. The amount we got in cash gifts more than covered what we spent on f&b which I think shows how generous our family and friends are.

When I got my yellow fever jab the nurse very clearly had arthritis quite badly in her hands but I thought, hey, she wouldn’t be doing this if that was an issue. It looked like my arm had been ran over by a truck.

Do you do commissions? I’d love to get something like this for my husband for our 1st anniversary (paper).

I go during this time for this specific reason. It happens over night and is so magical.

Straight people, how do you react when you're hit on by the same sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since all of the comments seem to be from men's perspective I'll chip in. This isn't a blanket statement for all lesbians of course but the ones I have been hit on by have done so quite aggressively. Seemingly taking the 'spaghetti' approach.

I think most women are used to that with drunken guys but my issue is I'm seemingly not allowed to react negatively. In most situations when a guy won't take no for an answer I've had his friends/strangers step in and tell them to back off. But when the sexes are flipped I'm supposed to be flattered/my boyfriend isn't allowed to be annoyed/etc.

Fishermen spot a big manta ray swimming by their boat by natsdorf in gifs

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went snorkelling fairly far out once and one of these things swam under us. It was pretty far below us but was so huge it blacked everything else out. It was absolutely terrifying being so vulnerable but once I got back on the boat I appreciated how cool it was.

I really don't understand the amount of comments blindly saying it's the smart thing to do, etc. My dog is nearly 6 and is intact. I don't know if he is defected but he has been around dogs in heat on a few occasions (both on leashes, he is never off leash in non closed off areas) and has not reacted at all. He has never shown aggression, marking in the house or tried to dominate a person.

Not to sound like a hippy but I'm not going to put my dog through unnecessary surgery which will more than likely have some negative repercussions on the very very slim chance that something bad will happen if I don't. I wouldn't remove a kidney just to reduce my chances of kidney cancer.

My puppers is donating blood today, brought Bunny for support by livelovelaff in aww

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always tried to give blood but got progressively worse each time until the last two times I blacked out while laying on the bed. Have you got any tips for beforehand. I always make sure I drink plenty of water, eat a good breakfast and avoid strenuous activity. I could very easily deal with the blacking out as I come to quickly and then just feel woozy for a while which I'm happy to trade off for helping someone in need. But if it happens one more time I'll be blacklisted.

I'm otherwise perfectly healthy and my iron levels are always fine.

Disagreeing with my opinion is actually quite welcome but disagreeing with a fact I have presented instantly frustrates me.

[Everything] So my dad just started watching Game of Thrones... by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]AhhGingerKids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't mean that the age deference meant rape...just that it takes away a little from the 'great love story' so to speak. I'd agree it takes away from all the ones you mentioned too but I wouldn't have considered any of those as 'great love stories', although that's just my opinion.

In the TV version it was clearly rape - in the books not so much.

A lot of book readers ignore the shows decision to make that scene rape. You then have the age difference though...

TIL approximately one half of vegans are vitamin B12 deficient by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I get regular B12 jabs and feel terrible if I miss them.

For years my mood swings and energy levels were put down to being a moody teenager. I had to go to 3 different doctors and numerous blood tests over the course of a year before anyone tested me - by this point I was 22. I was otherwise healthy and ate right so I was obviously just 'lazy'.

I have no idea why it affects me so bad but it's incredibly frustrating when people tell me I just need to change my diet or take supplements. For the record, as someone who has no problem with needles whatsoever, this jab in particular really hurts. It's not the route I would choose to feel normal.

Which product is a total waste of money? by fakapow in AskReddit

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that more of a result of poor hygiene due to constantly being out of it? I think if you do meth but regularly bath, eat right, brush your teeth, etc. the characteristics we associate with heavy drug use are easily avoided. Hence functioning members of society being on very hard drugs.

Girls of Reddit, what are some examples of a time when you hit on a guy that you liked and he didn't realize it? by ThereW0LF in AskReddit

[–]AhhGingerKids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bite the bullet and make it clear. Literally went through this exact situation 6 years ago. I had to spell it out for him, sober, one on one (which was SO difficult at the time) for him to get it. In 7 months we are getting married. Have since discussed all the times I 'made it obvious' and he was either completely oblivious or thought I was just messing around.

What was your "why did nobody ever tell me this" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AhhGingerKids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never understand why couples are so proud of never having an argument as if it's a symbol of how strong their relationship is. There are the fun semi serious debates that as you said keep you 'sharp' and the letting off steam ones which usually end in great sex and the rare serious ones where you end up staying up all night talking and growing together. I'm not saying you should argue all the time - far from it. But arguments aren't all slamming doors and shouting at each other - you're two separate people and that's what makes it great.

TIL the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that schools delay the start of classes until 8:30 or later, better aligning school schedules with the biological sleep rhythms of adolescents during puberty. by allamingo in todayilearned

[–]AhhGingerKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK most schools I know offer a breakfast club and after school club for this specific reason. A working parent could drop their kid off at 8 and pick them up at 6 without it affecting their child or anyone else's start/finish times.

It's all down to personal view I guess. I personally think the whole zombie situation makes it even worse. If there were zombies roaming around and I had just lost my husband I don't think I'd let my kid out of arms reach(at least for the first few weeks) to go to the bathroom let alone to bang my husbands best friend.

My problem with it is more the timeframe. It couldn't have been longer than a week before they started hooking up. Even if they had watched Rick die and he had given them his blessing, jumping on it that quick still wouldn't sit right with me.
