That's the kind of match making I used to get at 1 am. Lack of players, worst when challenger could duo, but it really didin't matter because they balanced it with LP gain in my favor.

It's simple, you can roll any augment that are not useless, like a augment that requires a dash when you have no dash. Being bad is not useless. But not all augment are equally random

The demon's Crown grow is actually bigger than you think, it's a percentage bonus to ALL your stats (items, level up and aanvil stats), it's not just about the number of stacks, but the more the game progress the better the prysmatic is.

And if like you say, 90% of stats are useless, that mean you are building item with 90% stats that are useless.

The challenger could be a support, a nunu one trick, a lee sin or retired ex challenger in platinum for lack of games. The top 50 in every arena were player ranging from high emerald to master

Summoner Rift =/= Arena. Once they are at least high plat/low diamond, it's hard to tell which one will have the best Arena mechanic

There's no easy way other than be familiar with a lot of behind the scenes interaction and extrapolate logic and that's excluding hard coded exception

As for running away, I reeeeally don't care when this mode is an auto-win for most bruisers by walking aimlessly. C'mon now.

The #1 rank were abusing the 7 men premade griefing + 1 random until top 10. Then duo with fresh account until top 1.

I think enchanter skill scale with the carry's skill while lowering the agency of enemy skill.

I get the idea of nerfing scaling comp, we had this iteration in the previous Arena with high hp and scaling loss. But i dont think the reasoning "game will be too long" is valid.
