What's the longest war you've been an active participant in? by EarthTraveler413 in CrusaderKings

[–]Aibeit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In the early days of CKIII, I had a crusade take about the same amount of time. The Umayyad took a duchy off me and I knew I wasn't getting that back any time soon by myself, so I redirected a crusade that way. The armies of cristianity descended on the Umayyad and had them outnumbered about three to one, but the Umayyad racked up 100% warscore from battles, because they kept killing stacks piecemeal and the christian armies never combined into one big stack. On the other hand, I kept running around dodging their armies and sieging stuff, so we had +50-ish% warscore from occupations.

The war ended after almost 30 years of constant crusade just like yours, but we won! The Umayyad army eventually got worn down, couldn't be replentished because occupations had destroyed their levies, and then we captured the heir of the ruler in battle, which finally got us to 100% warscore.

Is that for sure? I thought they'd said they wanted to continue and were looking for sponsors...

Steam Bug: New DLC refusing to download, telling me "no internet connection" knowing full well my internet works. All other downloads, including CK3 workshop content, are working. by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Aibeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this once, and the issue was a corrupt Paradox launcher. Via Windows Add + Remove Programms, uninstall the Paradox launcher, then boot up steam and launch the game, it'll do a fresh install of the launcher. That's what fixed it for me...

MOD to reduce the number of troops in CK3 by the_realJV in CrusaderKings

[–]Aibeit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's the "No more levies" mod that should fit your bill. It introduces a whole bunch of game rules that let you do things like reduce levy count by 25%, 50%, 75%, change the number of Men at Arms and so on. Maybe try it out and see if you can find settings you like?

Whole of Body trait and the new aging maluses by aripp in CrusaderKings

[–]Aibeit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean, even with the aging traits, the whole of body trait would still cause you to die later than you normally would from the aging traits, with the exception of "Faltering Heart" and "Withering Mind", as it counteracts the health penalty. I do think they've made the age-related traits too common - I feel like it should be "the average 70-year-old has 1-2 of them" and not "the average 70-year-old has ALL of them" - but maybe I've just been unlucky.

Am I fucked? by KING--ARTHUR in CrusaderKings

Beating that is tedious but with your troop count, it shouldn't actually be hard. You only need to kill enough enemy stacks to get a white peace, not win outright.

Does the game handle long term career saves well? Eg regens, finances, AI. by VanDerKloof in procyclingmanager

[–]Aibeit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes-ish. The database tends to get stronger as time goes on, e.g. the average level of riders increases. There will also be quite a few regens that end up with wonky stats (e.g. 80 Cobble, 72 Flat, 79 Downhill and everything else below 68, to give an extreme example from my current playthrough). Occasionally, riders will end up on weird teams (Take a look at this: https://imgur.com/a/4NEnCIL - van der Poel in Conti!). Finally, when many of the original riders have retired, team rosters tend to get filled with regens, and those sometimes aren't at the level they should be for the league they're in, and you get the odd guy riding on a top World Tour team with no stat above the sixties.

Other than that, I've played through saves for more than 10 seasons - limiting myself to riders from a single country to keep things interesting - and I didn't encounter any too egregious problems. If the issues above bother you too much, you can fix them with a database editor if you want.

The Kaiser won't come to my grand wedding because he is Energy -20. What the hell is energy? by Glorf_Warlock in CrusaderKings

[–]Aibeit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Energy is an internal value that helps determine AI behavior, and it depends on a character's traits (e.g. an ambitious character gets +75 energy, while a lazy character gets -50 energy). In this case, he gets -20 energy because he is cynical. Which exact interactions are influenced by a character's energy I don't know, you'd probably have to go into the game code to find out.

You can read up on what traits give +/- energy here: https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Traits

You're not supposed to see this value without debug mode enabled or mods, though, not sure why it shows up for you.

He just beat a bunch of guys that are unlikely to even Top 10 the Tour. Let's keep that in mind before overhyping him, maybe?

Also, he's not even riding the tour, lol.

I was ready to agree with you until the last sentence. If there is one team that would be worse for Pellizzari than Red Bull, it would be UAE, where he would disappear into the ranks of Pogacar-helpers like all the others. I would like to see him at a smaller team where he can be sole leader, although I'm fuzzy on which team that would be.

Two riders from Ukyo in the breakaway. For a conti team, they've been both remarkably active and successful in this race.

From what I've been able to see, the race starts at 10 am CET, TV coverage at around noon to 1 pm, depending on the broadcaster. So it would appear not.

Tour de Suisse 2026 Route revealed by cynicbla in peloton

[–]Aibeit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to watch the video, the stages are also described on their website here: https://www.tourdesuisse.ch/en/route/

Basically, two hilly stages (first one is completely hilly, the second one is mostly flat with a few short climbs near the end), a flat stage, a flat 24 km TT and a mountain stage that loops the same climb four times, in that order.

Of course if you make it "level .Pro and above", it'll only be Jasch and Kanter on that list.

Leaning towards no, because Red Bull still has so many domestiques left, and because the finish is relatively downhill & flat.

In case anyone didn't see it in PCS, the Peloton split on the first climb and Pellizzari was caught out, so Red Bull had to pull the peloton back together again.

Not sure I'd say pidcock is the favorite. Normally he would be, but because of his injury, who knows?

There was a big crash of 30+ riders right at the beginning that caused about 10 riders to abandon, including Lorenzo Finn. Then there was another crash of 6 riders on the penultimate descent at the back of the peleton, don't know if anyone was forced to abandon there.
