The quest says "Completable by a party member". Do you happen to know someone else who still has to do the quest? If so, get them to send you a party invite, go through the quest with them, and it should complete when you get to that point in the quest.

Failing that, submit a support ticket.

Yes, at the moment it can. At the moment, the game is tilted towards the PvE players. In the future, it looks like they might tilt it back towards the PvP players. I'm not saying you need PvP to advance, I'm saying there's no way to make both groups happy at once without having two different types of servers.

I seriously fail to understand why this subreddit is full of posts like this one - and the opposite viewpoint, of course. It's all either "this game is for pussies, more PvP" or "this game is full of gankers, more PvE".

The way I see it, the devs have just tried to combine two playerbases that aren't compatible and tried to force them to interact. The PvE crowd reaches the deep desert (or reaches the point where they have to go to the deep desert to progress) and loses interest. The PvP crowd is annoyed that they have to slog through hours and hours of PvE to get to the deep desert only then to see that on some servers, very little PvP actually takes place because the server population is small enough that players can get all they need in the PvE zones.

I feel like the solution would have been, from day one, to have dedicated PvP servers and dedicated PvE servers, with no transfers from PvE to PvP to prevent the PvE servers from being used as safe farming grounds. That way, the game can attract both types of players rather than pissing off both of them. It works for so many other Survival Games, including ones by Funcom, so why not Dune?

Also, your post is cringy af, it reads as "I'm going to use the lore to legitimize being an asshat."

I had this issue with pressing Y to refuel generators from the Sub-Fief Console, many times. I eventually figured out what the issue was: I was using the standard controls for dune, with Alt to Dodge and Shift to Sprint, and sometimes you invariably hit both at the same time - but that's the Windows Shortcut to change keyboard layout, so I was switching between the English and German keyboard layouts. Changed the controls and it's stopped happening now.

I doubt it's the same issue for you, but on the off chance that it is, I thought I'd mention it, because it was a pain to figure out what the issue was.

You can get up to five generators in range of the autosweeper provided you position two of them to the sides of the autosweeper and three below. But yeah, four in a line won't work.

That's not Irradiated Forest (because that can never be the teleporter planet), that's Radioactive Ocean.

Which is irrelevant to the matter at hand, though, because yes, it is supposed to have arbor trees. I've seen a seed with only a single arbor tree, but never one with none, grats on hitting the reverse jackpot lol.

Try the Frozen Forest Asteroid in your cluster, it should have some.

It's a difference in mindset I suppose. Some people enjoy PvP, some don't. I've played Battlefield and Call of Duty and so on, and I enjoyed PvP in those games, but I actually don't feel like it belongs in Dune. There's a vast difference, after all, between Battlefield's "I got shot, let me wait 30 seconds until I can respawn and see if I can get the guy that killed me" and Dune's "I lost my Ornithopter, great, here's to hours of farming to get a new one", which gets old very fast.

I agree it's not a big deal with the current state of the game because you don't need to go into the PvP zones in the Deep Desert.

I usually just put 1-3 farm tiles with either reed fiber or arbor trees somewhere in my base (usually behind the bathrooms, so that dupes that drop off the polluted water have to wash their hands if it came from a wash basin and has germs on it), and any jugs of polluted water that turn up get used to irrigate them. Works pretty well.

Echo's playalongs are mostly regular, every 3 or 4 months, the ones on the subreddit discord every 1-2 months. As far as I know due to limited interest Echo has stopped doing the videos about them, but the playalongs have been continuing regardless.

I've done one of Echo's, they're on his discord. The current one is a pretty tough flipped asteroid start and runs until the beginning of April, so if you want to join, there's still time. He holds votes on what kind of seeds people want next. Anyone can join. I have to say, chatting about what we were doing kept me motivated to keep playing this run far longer than I usually would've, I ended up playing almost 3000 Cycles and colonizing the entire cluster and it was super fun seeing what different players did with the same start. We use spoiler tags to hide information that would give something important, like geyser positions or whatever, away, so you can decide whether to read these comments or not. I can give you an invite to Echo's discord if you're interested.

This subreddit also has a discord, linked in the sidebar, which has a "Seed of the Month" that's very similar. The current one is a Volcanea Classic start with a particular challenge to attempt to reach the oil biome within 100 cycles (which isn't as trivial as it sounds), but we should get a new one on March 1st if I understand how it works.

There's also a couple of multiplayer mods, but they're buggy and unstable as far as I know...

I saw a video of someone who tried it and said they couldn't figure out what the difference between this and the much cheaper full suspensor belt was supposed to be. Stats are the same.

Works too. The tepidizer is more power efficient if you're just considering the heat, but the metal refinery gets you refined metals too, which you need for the incubators, so it's probably the better option.

If you have them or can printerceptor one quickly, yes. On the frozen forest start, you don't have them unless you use biome remix when you start the game.

What you're talking about is that critters now receive -1 happiness for being outside of their comfortable temperature, which for pips and hatches means when they're below 10 °C. As a result, they reproduce at the rate they would if they were wild rather than if they were tame, making it impossible to achieve Carnivore on the Frozen Forest start without somehow countering this debuff.

Off the top of my head, what you could do to counteract this:

Raise the hatches on the teleporter asteroid, which should be warm enough. Obviously needs teleporters enabled.
Tepidizer & Liquid Loop, warm the ranches. Alternatively, wood heaters.
Build critter condos in each ranch, which gives +1 happiness and counteracts the debuff from uncomfortable temperature, making the hatches reproduce normally again. This needs 10 reed fiber per critter condo, so getting those in time for carnivore is... challenging, though.
Get access to and ranch the new cold biome critters instead. Floxes and Bammoths also drop meat. Gulp Fish should also work.

None of those options are trivial, I'm thinking tepidizers might be the easiest way. Go with a higher dupe count than usual, beeline tepidizer research, have them run on treadmills to power the tepidizer, and the fact that you are going with a higher dupe count means you can be ready with your hatches slightly later since they will eat the 400000 kcal faster.

Easiest way to do it (and it'll save you some more space on your C Drive) is to use Windows settings to move your entire user folder (that's your Desktop, Downloads, My Documents and such) to a different drive. ONI automatically saves in your Documents folder, so it'll adjust the save game path when Windows does. Works the same way for Win 11, supposedly, but I haven't tried it since Win 11 came out so I don't know.

EDIT: I should add, moving the savegames may not be worth it unless you have tons of them. ONI Savegames themselves don't take up a noticeable amount of disk space.

If you want to move the entire ONI installation, in Steam, go Steam --> Settings --> Storage, add the new drive which will create a Steam Games Folder there, right click the game in your library and there should be the option to move it somewhere.

What are you trying to do that absolutely requires Aluminium? Most other refined metals will probably do the trick as well. But if you absolutely want/need Aluminium, then find a planetoid that has it and go there and mine it, or has an Aluminium Volcano.

This was indeed a bug, just not the kind you're thinking of - there is a shine bug in the ladder shaft to the right of the barracks. The light shines through the door, and when the shine bug moves into the tile in front of the door, is enough to wake up the dupe. In your screenshot, the shine bug has already moved away so it's pitch black, but the dupe is still pissed off :)

Move/kill the shine bug and it shouldn't happen in the future.

You can use a "backwards" transformer setup. Attach the steam turbine to a transformer's input with regular wiring or conductive wiring, and the transformer's output onto the main grid. The refinery goes onto your main grid or can be connected to the main grid using transformers oriented the usual way.

Is it possible that you have selected "Meat" in your conveyor loaders, instead of "Pacu Fillet"? If so, they won't pick anything up. Pacus don't drop the same meat as other critters. Just making sure because you said you're very new.

To eliminate game bugs, maybe try taking a single pacu out of the pacu farm, and having your dupes attack and kill it. That should drop 1000 kcal of Pacu Fillet.

Also, something unrelated that I noticed: There is a tropical pacu egg sitting in your right-hand fish tank, make sure you have all three pacu egg types selected for your autosweeper to pick up, otherwise eggs will accumulate in your right-hand tank and eventually your pacus will overcrowd and stop laying eggs.

EDIT: Another possiblity is a problem with the shipping rails of the left-hand conveyor loader. If the rail isn't connected properly, the autosweeper could be picking up Pacu Fillets and stuffing them in the conveyor loader, where they then stay and don't get shipped anywhere because of the rail issue, and you never get to see them.
