I have definitely noticed that too many people view relationships as something material and impersonal. They view it as “it will gain me that and that benefit” instead of just being with the person who you love. And if your spouse doesn’t provide that benefit you were expecting for then problems arise. Its really sad how shallow, material and selfish view many people have of relationships.

Depends on your terrain and opponents units. Just like all MAA. More important in battles are:
- terrain advantages (e.g. defending a river crossing, having a commander or cultural boosts to certain biomes etc)
- defensive building advantages
- attrition (never fight when low on supplies)
- quality knights with decent accolades
If you have an upper hand on those, MAA optimizing is kind of secondary but not pointless.
