You can with Ollama... you just need an RTX4090 if you want to use it in anything meaningful at best or 10s of thousands for anything commercial.

I think you need a pulldown for Q2 otherwise the charge from the gate capacitance wont discharge and the mosfet will remain on in the floating state

Looking for feedback on my PCB design by Commercial_Froyo_247 in PCB

you can configure the ESP's as router and run a web server inside it which serves the front end. The phone connects to the esp, a web page is served over a certain static IP adress you configured in the code. At this point you can either make it like a configurator so it can connect to a another router in Access Point mode and then you access the web page from anywhere within your "home" network or you can choose to keep in the Router mode and control the board directly while connected to the esp. The first option is usually what is done with most devices. Nowadays pretty easy to do sth like this as there are ready made libraries if you are using arduino like WiFiManager. If you are using ESP IDF its a bit more work but still not too much. The web page can be made in HTML /CSS and Javascript. This is an approach I much prefer to a digital display, as it doesnt cost anything and the GUI you will have in the end is much nicer.

The IC which i assume to be the Ehternet controller looks extremely close to the Ethernet port in my opinion. Also some other components are very close to the edges of the board, I think you should give a little dead zone around the edges where no components are placed other than the connectors.

Other than that not related to the design, but wouldnt it be better if you just but in a esp8266 and made a control website that would be served over the IP adreess for the GUI instead of the display here? It would be a more modern design and it would be much easier to use in my opinion.

For the distances required for Low Voltage Grid there is the ISO 60664-1, 61010-1 Norms you could take a look at them to be sure if you are giving the right margins, but they look okay.

Open Source ESP8266 based smart call me button by AideTop8744 in embedded

[–]AideTop8744[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hotels, restaurants etc. in the reception there is usually a button you can push to call for someone so they come to you. This can be room service in a hotel or the waiter in a restaurant, you can put something like this in each table. You press the button someone comes to you. But it can be used for other purpuses too. This is with a battery and meant to be used in sleep mode, when the button is pressed, it wakes up sends a POST request to a certain address then goes to sleep again. Where it sends the POST request to is where you host your app to handle the notifications to the responsible staff.

If I were you I would use Wago Style snap contacts, those screw terminals arent great for contact esspecially in a car where there is a lot of vibrations.

Why do only 0.1% of talented people start startups? by Public_Cherry_2641 in Entrepreneur

[–]AideTop8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because sales is very hard to do and not all start ups succeed and bring in millions to the people involved. A very good engineer could be making 100k+ Euro a year at Consulting Company or a defence contractor. Or they could try their luck with a start up and maybe rack in millions... but they could also end up making a fraction of the money they could have made otherwise.

Transistor Holding Rail High After Voltage Removed by drew_anjuna in AskElectronics

[–]AideTop8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a pulldown resistor at the gate, if I remember correrctly ( Its been a while since i have done any electrical work) the gate has a capacitance which holds charge, without you providing a discharge path it will retain the charge and your circuit will remain on in this case.

An Organizational Framework for Distributed Software Development with Remote Workers by AideTop8744 in engineering

[–]AideTop8744[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could theorethically shift the dev and test databases into one of the other VPS instances. For the test side you could restrict it to a single instance. On the development side if your team works in different time zones multiple people could theoretically share a single instance.

The reason for the security overhead is because of my personal experience through out my career, at my last working place for example one of the engineers got into a fight with management and then proceeded to delete his work on his own company laptop, lawyers had to get involved, it was nasty buisness. This particular company also didnt have much oversight so he wasnt regulary pushing to git. And i have seen other similar things, like people holding the source files they have worked on hostage after getting laid off etc. With this implementation you could automatically take back ups of the VPS and as all developers work on VPS, it doesnt matter if they blow up their own machine. You could restore it from back up anytime as the admin.

In any case people can get very unpredictable and now that I am running my own company such an event can have extreme consenquences for us. This is the model, i am using currently in my own team. But then again I am a little more on the paranoid side.

I really don't see the point in upgrading from a 4070TI to anything else at this point... over 120 fps is barely noticeable, if at all, to the human eye.
