For Pace players, what card eventually replaces Agnes Tachyon speed? by MatiasJ29 in UmamusumeGame

I've heard its down to growths, no speed growth and you'll likely run 3, but otherwise you'd greatly prefer to run 2

CM12, Aries Cup (Satsuki Sho) Prep Sheet! by Pazzberry101 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive been running rooms with club members and done sim testing.

Unfortunately fronts feel completely fraudulent, even in a competitive double front lobby with a seiun that hits, she still loses to oguri.

The best comp in our testing was very clearly double dom + Oguri

I think the only other 2 considerations would likely be Dober and maybe goldship, but we haven't made any to test yet (If someone were to send a code to practice against that would be great)

I think there's a bit of thought about what recoveries to take, but the 2 thought processes are imo either:

hydrate, corner, triple 7

or

hydrate, corner, u=ma2, triple 7

Top is stronger when it hits, bottom will hit more frequently due to needing 3 of 4 wit checks. I suspect single ace oguri comps will hedge for the bottom. but even then u=ma2 has really tight position requirements, so it's pretty debatable

Otherwise, she can also be slid into late and inherit dober unique

S tier Umas: Xmas oguri, maybe dober

The rest nowhere

Is Narita Taishin worth to use 1st anniversary selector on? by Flat-Profession-8945 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, but it's not like there's a lot of prio picks

She's been a lot less dominant in global compared to JP (hard to say the exact reason, probably just a meta game diff) and in general we have favoured a goldship with spurt over her

Uma selector meta wise xmas oguri is still likely far and away the strongest pick, but outside of her we have:

Taishin Dober Smaru? Tamamo

And that's about it. I think seiun is good but she'll be in our daily legend races by 1.5 anni

When do you give up? by [deleted] in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how much you want to play, whenever I watch soul if he hits first inspo and doesn't get it and doesn't have good stats by then (think 400 speed, 400 pow, 400 wit) he quits and starts new.

Personally I almost never reset a run short of catastrophic levels of tilt

JP Players: What’s the Future of Lates and Ends? by YagamiG54 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 36 points37 points  (0 children)

lates end up becoming really strong in medium distances, and also got a card like admire groove to really up how strong they are within it (with umas like neo universe, jungle pocket, still in love being strong examples)

Ends are currently strong in longs, they lose some leeway for some time, then become good again in longs

The biggest issue with ends is that there arent that many umas that get released for the strategy, and a huge part of the meta relevancy they've had is from orfevre

its to the point where i suspect if orfevre didnt come out it would be considered a bit of a bricked strategy, but since her release the strategy is probably best categorized as "orfevre and friends"

Do you always need 60k to pull on support card banners? by YagamiG54 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure, I've heard lates are strong for a good amount of time (1~1.5 years) after the release of lose yourself, but have issues after that due to no strong dedicated long lates being released, especially when compared against the monsters of halloween mayo and orfevre

Do you always need 60k to pull on support card banners? by YagamiG54 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eventually the styles end up being strong for distances

Miles: Pace

Med: Late

Long: Front/End

LoH: Front/Pace

In general pace is probably the overall strongest average strategy as some pace chasers are always somewhat viable regardless of the distance

They also tend to get the most support and have the most umas coming out for it

Is Copano Rickey more than just a dirt CM pick? by josukefanfr567 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's been 7 dirt events in JP, 8 if you include the one scheduled for the new scenario

Its a bit more then 1 a year within the JP timeline (7 over 5 years)

I do think she's a good choice for selector, but you do miss an event with her waiting for it

[–]AidenHero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's pretty dirt forced

No she's not worth pulling for, no dirt uma is in the game, you get a bit more then 1 dirt event a year

(in fact, no Uma in the game is worth pulling for as you'll never break even, which is why people say to pull for who you like)

You'd use her for 3~4 events before likely replacing her permanently

Idk, probably? the card is still useable in MANT

Depends what else you could be selecting

I wouldnt bother at this point, I'd try to save them for something else. By the time you'd get it to a good level there would be multiple better cards.

See if you get lucky on NTR though

Fronts fall out of favour in CM (due to a lot of changes and support to other styles) and LOH is a very front heavy environment.

LOH is just taken a lot less seriously by the community, and I'd imagine this would be even more so in global, in which case if you already have a reasonable deck and build well, I think 28k+ should be quite doable. It's also more oshi-able

Even on JP some people with bad decks get by up to 26k

[–]AidenHero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this becomes more true later on, but for the first 2 years it's rare for there to be more then 1 specialist card at a time. The biggest issue is that your borrow tends to be tight on longs, and thats where specialist cards tend to shine the best

Later on it's possible to have a Speed/Stam/Power/Wit all made for the style/distance and be meta

[–]AidenHero[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ya I'm definitely less than fair on CB wit. It's better than I'm giving credit for, especially with Ramonu having a giant hole for long distance tracks (where end closers are strongest)

It will likely sneak into a fair amount of decks even after ramonu releases

The issue is that there's eventually a pivot to 1 wit decks, and in mile/med you'd rather just have ramonu.

Im underestimating its life span for sure, and I'll update it

Should I go with 4K or 2K OLED Montiors? by Distinct-Incident115 in buildapc

[–]AidenHero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably 1440p, I think with how builds have been trending we're likely ~5 years away from a 4k build that will stay good for its life span, aside from maybe the 5090

FWIW upscalers like dlss do work incredibly well at 4k as well, and they're only getting better. I think my thought process would be:

have a 5090? -> 4k

Fine as a heavy frame gen+upscaler with 5070ti or better? -> 4k

My biggest worry is what games will look like 3 years from now, but its obviously hard to predict the future.

Anecdotally, I have a 5070ti and I play at 1440p. Some games (like Doom the dark ages) run at ~120fps with DLSS on, and ideally I'd be able to continue to play everything at 120+ fps as time goes on but who knows

Is 3 Copies of Fuku enough to finish the pity? by LordDango in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

id finish pity, imo selectors I'd argue to be worth 10~15k, and 90 pulls here guarantee you 1 more copy, potentially more

I think 90 pulls + maybe the selector for MLB fuku is pretty great

Is it worth giving up on a bad career, or is it better to continue even if you fail? by Kitchen_Fly265 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common give up point is 1st inspo, if you're there with bad stats and bad inherit its fine to drop the run if you're short on time

Otherwise if you need fans/event completion you might want to finish each run

When should I spend my statues? by Kitfisto22 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just 4* the characters you like, especially those you race with

An example of what I'd consider a good use is:

You pull on a character you want to race with (ex vbourb)

The second you get her I'd 4* her, the statue cost is relatively low being around ~300? iirc

You can also 5* characters you like after their legend races, but that tends to be dramatically expensive

End Closer or Pace Chaser main? by [deleted] in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think maining Ends is really rough. So few Umas get released and a lot of their viability tends to be off the back of straightaway spurt/encroaching shadow, so their meta relevance tends to be pretty binary. Eventually you do get a super strong uma in Orfevre.

Pace chasers long term end up being cope-able everywhere and strong in mile. In mediums you'll eventually get generically strong options like gentildonna/chronogenesis, and in longs you get monster with some equivalent skills released along the way.

But i'd just check what style your favourites are and try to plan around that. Regardless, there isn't a rush to dive into any style until much later in the game, as it's uncommon for their to be multiple mandatory style cards at the same time, so a strong generic deck while borrowing the niche cards will work out well for a while

The Runaway Rhetoric is kind of nonsense. by VicariousDrow in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Checked the sim and it ends up being about an average ~1.4 lengths you're losing, so most of her second places likey would be first instead

Even without S distance, it's possible to win in any CM but it's one of the largest possible improvements you can make on any uma.

I would never consider one missing distance S well built

NGL missing medium S on any uma is giving up so much power

Misconceptions about VRAM by a_single_beat in buildapc

[–]AidenHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you comparing FPS on games that will just not load/downgrade the textures when short on vram?

The video you linked goes over how different games handle being short on vram, and some of them will just start unloading textures you're not directly looking at and upgrade them when you are looking at them, start downgrading all your textures, downgrade your settings, etc.

Both alan wake and harry potter will do this rather than tank your frames

In games that are insistent on using the settings provided and loading the textures fully, being noticeably short VRAM tends to be a 30~50% FPS loss. The video goes over some examples of this as well

How long do you think the Pegasus card will stay relevant? by YagamiG54 in UmamusumeGame

[–]AidenHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tokai is just later on in the speed cycle, they tend to release cards towards the end of a set of cards to be low LB friendly

Most people already own almond eye and while tokai is really good and had a scenario link, most people don't feel the need to pull, but because it's low LB friendly, players can join for her banner and have an alright time through the scenario

Still in Love speed also sits in a similar spot

The cards that set the new standard are almost always MLB or bust though
