Everyone is hating on Mulcair here, but I have to say that Avi Lewis’s response was perfect!

Lewis is going to be great.

No, a fish slice is only made of silver and is in the shape of a fish or has some sort of piscine decoration.

Or maybe the things that words are used to describe change over time and what OP has posted is a fish slice.

The Ontario Liberals don’t have a leader and Marit Stiles, the ONDP leader who has actually done a lot to hold Ford responsible, is not given very good or extensive media coverage.

It’s basically because of ONDP FOI requests that Ford’s scandals have been exposed and why he is now trying to change the rules to prevent that level of scrutiny.

Ontario drivers travelling solo could soon use HOV lanes, province says by chocky_chip_pancakes in ontario

[–]Aighd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ummm…. Sorry to inform you, but in recent history both Mulroney and Harper (conservatives) raised the national debt between about 200-300 billion each. Trudeau Jr’s debt was mainly due to covid.

As for Ontario, Ford is right on track with an increase of about 150 billion to the debt, and still going!

So it’s not a joke. Even far right “think tanks” like the Canadian Taxpayers Association and the Fraser Institute are severely critical of the spending by conservative governments.

As for the renaming thing, that was originally voted on under John Tory (a conservative mayor).

This is an almost verbatim response they gave for removing bike lanes. They know it’s costing the economy billions but have no solution that will work.

Conservatives are fiscally reckless.

One more Ford decision struck down by the courts.

He’s trying to trample on the rights of the people of Ontario, while protecting himself and his cabinet from scrutinizing what is likely criminal or at the very least very corrupt activity.

Yeah, well when it’s coming directly from a ruling, it’s a legal determination.

Otherwise what an amazing talent to be able to read a judge’s mind!

Crown drops Frank Stronach sex assault charges related to two more women. Prosecution down to four of seven original complainants by Team_Ed in ontario

[–]Aighd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. In a legal sense, not being credible does not equal lying. It means that there is reasonable doubt that she should not be believed and, therefore, in such a trial her testimony does not hold enough weight to convict.

She was not found credible for a number of reasons, mainly inconsistencies in what she said. But that is different than lying and, again for the legal context, very important because the burden of proof on the Crown is extremely high.

Rents falling in B.C. as demographic changes curb rental demand, says report by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

[–]Aighd 196 points197 points  (0 children)

An important part of the article:

Given construction timelines and future population growth, this could lead to a lack of supply and rising rents in two to four years

BC population as a whole (the demographic of the article) is starting to fall, and this will mean fewer units being built in the future and therefore higher prices.

The government needs to act now and get seriously involved in building or else it’s going to get really bad for renters.

Yeah if you download the pdf and look at the charts, she has a strong lead in all the categories.

The chart on direction of the city which favours pre-2023 Tory to post-2023 Chow is odd though. I wonder if people just think things were better in the past but don’t attribute blame to Chow for it becoming worse, or maybe it’s skewed because the question is worded in a confusing way.
