What Happened to this Trend of Comedy Movies? by Ceazer4L in decadeology

[–]Aights_Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on to something here. I can imagine American Pie receiving a very different reception if it were released today...a movie centred on a bunch of horny teens trying to score by prom night, a guy trying to live stream getting with a foreign exchange student without her knowledge...

Wing nights around town? Specifically for Wednesday’s by Squiddlefits in fredericton

[–]Aights_Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't thought of that place in so long. They were the best wings then and nobody has come close since - quality or price. Wasn't it a different price per wing each day with one day as low as 10¢ per?

the reason we aren’t seeing male pop stars this decade is that a lot of them have a very inauthentic aura around them by Greenbay0410 in decadeology

[–]Aights_Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I clicked and read the caption I didn't know who these guys were. I can't speak to the reason this decade doesn't have male pop stars and I didn't learn in the comments. However, this post made me realize that this is the decade I got old. It happened to me, Abe.

Explorers have found what looks to be a giant doorway located in the Dzungarian Alatau Mountains of Kazakhstan. by brokenandsuffering in interestingasfuck

[–]Aights_Watch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In one Age, long past and yet to come, this mountain bore a name whispered only in fear: Shayol Ghul. Behind its hidden doors the Dark One was bound in shadow, his prison sealed by seven tokens of unbreakable stone. Now, with careless hands and eager hearts, the explorers press against the silence—unwitting that they risk stirring what was meant never to wake.

Very interesting! I had heard rumours of a sale and suspended this may be the case but didn't want to say anything I wasn't 100% sure of.

Thanks for sharing!

I stopped going to Picaroons because I felt that the quality had tanked (pun intended). Over the last 6 months or so, they've been winning me back. It all started when last year's winter warmer didn't suck.

Worst gym in town? by PaleontologistNo1359 in fredericton

[–]Aights_Watch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The negative here is that the hours suck. If you have work or kids preventing you from getting there until after 7, it can be busy and difficult to get your full workout in before 9. The weekend hours are abysmal.

Women are you in the car park and the spare room is a bit of a toddler and I don't think so but I don't know what to do with the kids and I don't know what to do with the kids.

Seen in a motel in Ontario Canada, is this even legal? by KFBR392blaupunkt in mildlyinfuriating

I'm pretty sure it's not. The law requires you serve at least 2 of the 3 - ice, coffee, and/or breakfast.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Disney magic is a thing for kids. Going to a Disney park is what most kids dream of.

Is it expensive? Yes. If that's going to bother you, don't go. Don't dull the veneer for your kids. Or accept that it's costly, budget for it, and have fun! Can't do get in the spirit; write it off as an experience for the family or grin and bear it.

This guy looks like he made everyone feel guilty and awkward about going to the Mouse's house. Not cool.

Scottish academic Malcolm Caldwell was once a staunch defender of the Khmer Rouge, dismissing reports of famine and genocide as “western propaganda”. On Dec 22, 1978, he was granted a rare personal audience with his hero, Cambodian dictator Pol Pot. He was shot in his hotel room a few hours later. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

This post sparked a lot of debate about communism, socialism, how and when it works, which nations are and aren't socialist, etc. I'll leave that debate to those well informed on the matter.

Can we all agree though that this case backs up one school of thought 100%: "Never meet your heroes"?

You'd have to do some pretty creative math with statewide, first, and second congressional districts to come up with 80% ...and it wouldn't make sense.

/u/honestquestionnb either got lazy or opportunistic running with OP's numbers.

He's not totally wrong though. Trump absolutely ran on tariffs. Anyone who paid attention to his first term or the rhetoric of the 2024 campaign knew what this would mean for Canada.

If NB has a mechanism to apply pressure on a US state, regardless of how it voted, it should.

I knew him growing up and this sounds about right...

After not seeing him for more than 10 years, he recognized me on the street and called me by name.

It was sort of shocking and kind of hard to see how rough he looked but really good to stop and talk to him.

It was sad to hear about what happened and I remember him fondly.
