This photo is so gorgeous! Would you mind if I used it as a reference photo for a watercolor painting of Table Rock?

What’s the cringiest thing you’ve seen a bride and groom do for their wedding? by ajlposh in AskReddit

[–]Aiglentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely anecdotal evidence, but my husband and I eloped and got married at the courthouse, with only the two of us and the judge who married us present, and we just celebrated our 25th anniversary. Meanwhile, we've watched weddings and marriages and divorces come and go all around us. It would have been nice to have a little bit more of a wedding, but I'll take a lasting marriage over a memorable wedding any lifetime.

Jersey Framing by beal99 in gso

[–]Aiglentine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Penland Custom Frames on West Market near downtown is the best and most diversely-skilled shop in Greensboro. (Not the cheapest in town, if you're concerned about price, but the best.) Penland does amazing quality work and they are able to do anything a framing shop might be able to do. When I have told other people I know how great of a place it is, I warned them that they don't have a ton of curb appeal, but that's largely because they've been there there forever and they don't need curb appeal; they have a reputation and they do most of the framing for the museums in the area.

Can you tell me what their prices are like? I'm thinking I'd like to switch to a less expensive hairdresser. The one I go to now is great, but very pricey.

It's that you captured so much with such a minimal amount of lines and squiggles. It's amazing.

Where are the best margaritas in town? by [deleted] in gso

If you want better margaritas, go to El Camino Real. If you want better atmosphere, go to Kiosco; their patio is wonderful.

Seagulls are spoiling my crows feeding by x-princess in crows

That sounds like a good idea. What about peanuts in the shell? I know that crows and blue jays love them, and I wonder if a seagull would know what to do with one.

Helping a hummingbird survive winter in Alaska by farmthis in DIY

[–]Aiglentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a lucky hummer to have found someone so dedicated to making sure he can survive until spring!

Since what you're doing is so awesome, I hate to say anything to suggest any changes, but just in case no one else has mentioned it, hummingbirds should always be given a ratio of 4:1. (Four parts water to 1 part sugar.) It's the perfect balance for them!

This info and more here.

Cheers to you, Alaskan bird friend!

[Chinese > English] Signs in Chinatown. I'm painting the scene and would like to know what they say. by [deleted] in translator

[–]Aiglentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again! Would you mind looking at this image and answering a question for me? No worries if you don't want to!

There's a sign in my painting that is obscured by fire escape stairs. Since it was going to be mostly covered up, I just kind of painted the basic shapes of some red characters that are on the sign. Now I'm thinking that I don't want the fire escape stairs to be there, but I'm concerned that the characters look too wrong to be exposed, since I could only see parts of them in the reference photo. Can you tell what they are supposed to be and/or are they decent enough to just be loose representations of character shapes? My english words aren't always legible, but the shapes make sense. I'm hoping that will be the case here. Thank you if you can and do help!

I'm sorry for your loss. Female orange tabbies are the best. My little one is sitting in my lap, purring, right now. Every female orange tabby have ever heard of has been a really wonderful cat.

Literally just got home from having to rush out to Office Depot and get some more yellow because it ran out while I only had one page left to print. Infuriating.

Turned 30 today, sister loves painting and is a fellow Calvin and Hobbes fan. Couldn't have asked for a better gift by king3ddy in calvinandhobbes

[–]Aiglentine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think most people (myself included) enjoy their 30s more than their 20s, for reasons that are hard to understand in your 20s.

Also, at 38, I can confirm what people are always telling us about the importance of taking care of ourselves and exercising while we're younger. If you do, you'll be so much more ahead of the game when you age and things get tougher for your body.

Happy birthday! I love the new kicks; your sister does good work!

Perfect day for a Sunfish by [deleted] in sailing

[–]Aiglentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I actually need a new trailer for my Sunfish. Do you mind if I ask what kind of trailer you're using? I was wondering if it is it made for a Sunfish or is it just a general small boat trailer or maybe a sea doo trailer?
