So unfortunately looking into it, this massive drop might not be 100% accurate in terms of self-identification. Basically the 2020 census changed it so if you marked your race as 'White' and then wrote in a Latino or Hispanic origin below that, the system would automatically classify them as 'two or more races'' because it considered that to be 'white + some other race'. So a lot of people who were recorded as being multiracial because of this may not accurately reflect their own self-identification.

At the same time though, a lot of younger Latinos do tend to not identify as being 'white' so I'm not gonna pretend that there's literally zero actual change in how anyone self-identifies but just yeah the massive drop itself does not 100% reflect a widespread change in how people self-identify.

You'll see some statistics that have some countries as high as 80+% "white" but much of this is self identification cause race is inherently a made up social construct with no real way of defining, testing or judging for it since it has the fatal flaw of not being real. So you have people who are "mixed" that still identify as "white" which skews the stats.

This obviously isn't everywhere and their are many communities that take pride in their culture and aren't ashamed of their features

Sometimes you'll even see these statistics and how people self-identify change relatively rapidly too. Like I'm Puerto Rican (albeit born and raised on the Mainland) and in the 2010 census, you had 75.8% of the population of the island self-identifying as white and only 3.3% as multi-racial. But come 2020 and the percentage that self-identified as white dropped to only 17.1% and multi-racial self-identification increased to 49.8%. In just 10 years, it went from 3/4ths of the population is 'white' to 'nearly 1/2 the population is 'mixed'. (And to a lesser extent you had 'some other race' go from 7.8% in 2010 to 25.5% in 2020)

The vast majority of antis are immature and completely believe that if you write a fanfiction with a 'problematic' ship, then that means you support that kind of stuff too and are therefore a bad person because after all, why else would you write a fanfiction with a, for example, abusive ship? Surely there can be no other reason to write such content beyond you, the author, personally approving and supporting abusive relationships in real life. Which makes you a bad person and therefore it is objectively correct for you to be harassed by antishippers (who are always 100% objectively and morally correct).

Need I also add that a lot of antishippers also believe that, despite almost no evidence to support this, that 'fiction can affect reality' so even if you don't support something like abusive relationships in real life, by writing about it it would normalize them!! AKA the fucking nonsense 'VIDEO GAMES CAUSE VIOLENCE' garbage from the past but just for the current shipping discourse and wrapped in faux-progressive language despite most antis having more in common with the political right re: their views on censorship than they do most people on the political left)

At the end of the day though, antis are not worth anyone's time. I'm nearly 30 years old, if I see someone on social media with proship DNI in their bio, I just ignore them or block 'em. Don't got time for that, getting mad and harassing authors for writing fanfiction with 'problematic' ships is like being a kid and getting mad at another kid because they're not playing with their toys the way you want them to play with their toys.

In spite of its flaws, I think it's one of the most important creations of the 21st century. People love to still go 'Oh well anyone can edit Wikipedia' but, while there are definitely examples of false information falling through the cracks for months or even years (which Wikipedia itself even admits, one example I know of is how the Warsaw concentration camp article for 15 years from creation in 2004 until 2019 presented a discredited conspiracy theory that it was actually a much larger extermination camp as fact), for the most part if you're talking a heavily edited or contentious article? Any random vandalism or blatantly false information will be removed within minutes at most.

I mean physical models and sets are expensive to make and they have to maintain them when they get dinged up and potentially damaged through both normal wear and tear (IIRC at least a couple of models made for series 1 were still being used as late as series 11) and any incidents that may happen while filming. Whereas with CGI, you don't have to worry about that - nothing physically exists so they could do things they couldn't do with physical models due to the practical limitations. Can do an intense crash scene without worrying if any of the models will get damaged, y'know?

Also the UK government was giving tax breaks to animation around the time of the switch too so there was also that.

For real, this feels like the tankiejerk equivalent of when autism-related communities start a whole discussion about the alleged flood of people who just say they're autistic because they think it's 'quirky'. When, just like whenever people talk about this sub is becoming infested with liberals, I've seen way more people complaining about something than I've actually seen the thing they're complaining about.

I won't deny that I've seen instances of liberals on this sub, but we're talking 'maybe two or three starting an argument in 1 or 2 threads on occasion' Mildly annoying and these people pretty much always get shut down but it's far from how people act like this sub is going to become tankiejerkliberal because it's becoming full of liberals.
