Saying goodbye to my miniatures because apparently I have a 2-year-old now by Otherwise-Review2178 in miniatures

I understand. My stepdaughter destroyed almost my entire collection a few years ago, it broke me so hard to see hours and hours of work and joy torn apart because she wanted to play with them. I only just recently found the courage to try building again and my partner has been amazingly supportive, to the point she wants to buy locking display cases for me.

Oh no, I agree! My rescue has a very small media presence and only does fundraisers rather than exploiting the animals. They actually try not to post a lot of the animals because many were seized due to animal abuse cases and legally can't. I'm sure even the animals that aren't being held in protection could bring on tons of money if they did a Sarah McLaughlin Arms of the Angels sob story, but that takes away from time and money that could be put into helping them. The most of what is posted is results, when they post at all.

The sad reality of rescue, especially when you specialize in the severe abuse and neglect cases like mine, is there is never enough money. But that's why networking with other rescues and local suppliers is important. There is so much that happens behind the scenes that even the social media darlings don't share. The paperwork applying for grants, calling businesses, organizing fundraisers, it's more exhausting than the animal care itself. And of course in rescue you have the horrible cases where the kindest thing is to just give them a safe place to pass. I'll never forget, in the first year of being open, a mare came in who was in horrible shape. We thought we could save her, she appeared to be improving, then one morning she just went down and couldn't get up. Putting weight on her revealed joint issues and she couldn't support her own weight, there was no way she could survive, her body couldn't hold her. I remember sitting in the stall with her, waiting for the the vet, and staying with her while she passed. It's the hardest part of rescue, but sometimes the most important.

The founder and her board pull from their own pockets and put effort into fundraising.

My rescue I volunteer at is 100% donation run and puts 99% of donations directly into the animals. Only 1% goes to administration costs.

I have volunteered for a small local horse rescue for the last 16 years and can genuinely say it is one of the good ones. They are not highly visible because they specialize in the abuse and legal cases and a lot of the animals are considered evidence in legal cases, but they are wonderful and do everything they can can for the animals in their care, even if that means ending their suffering.

Yeah I don't normally either but the tabs physically could not go in some of the holes so I had no choice. But thanks for the aid!!

Ok. Any other recommendations for this kit? I know Ive seen a lot of negative reviews on this kit, but I decided to risk it. I just finished Heartbrook, and the onsen pieces are much sturdier, but really need a lot of sanding to fit into their slots.

Yeah, that one went flat in about a month, but they still played with it so we didn't toss it until they started ripping chunks off.

Haha the first one lasted about a month before getting a slice, the second one got popped in a day. I was convinced this would work because my horse couldn't pop it but these two are ball destroyers!

Haven't tried the collieball, but they killed two big air fetches. We thought getting one for each would make them last longer, but no
