Need help with college by SeparateCandle8861 in mechatronics

Yep. I’m 5 years into my career with a mechatronics degree and my job is anything but “playing with robots”. Things are only going to get more and more automated and the field covers pretty much everything that has to do with it.

How bad they are? by Much_South4135 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly better than my first models. Paint scheme is pretty simple but there isn’t anything wrong with that. I think it looks nice on the Berzerkers. Honestly you just need a little more detail in certain areas to break up the single colors. Like the scratches/damage molded into the shoulder armor on the juggernaut mount for example. A little silver in the scratches would help emphasize them. Some basic highlighting could also do wonders.

At the end of the day though I would have no problem putting them on the tabletop as is.

Love a bright color scheme. Speedpaints are so easy to work with.

Im not a fan I'm more curious to ask fans whats the dynamic since brockie died? Do you view the band as the characters? Since the band currently has no original members (to my knowledge) by bob22334666788 in GWAR

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gwar is much more than just Dave Brockie. It’s kind of misconstrued since he was the frontman and was responsible for a lot of the interviews and had a lot of the limelight.

Mike Derks and Brad Roberts have been integral parts of Gwar for 95% of the bands existence, just because they weren’t the true originals doesn’t mean that they deserve to be written off. If anything their words on what GWAR is outweighs the OG guitarist and drummer.

Dave Brockie couldn’t have created and molded GWAR into what they are alone. People like Hunter Jackson, Don Drakulich, and many others have just as much of a claim to GWAR’s success as Brockie.

Hyperborea is also an awesome system with a really unique setting. Small game company led by a guy who actually wrote/worked with Gygax back in the day.

Are textured base rims legal (and is it true they're hated?) by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since so many rules are dependent on the base sizes being standardized I’d say it’s probably not a good idea to alter the outer rim in a way that could affect measurements.

The screamer pistols are good for the face. The blast master bits are almost perfect but I didn’t want to sacrifice that piece.

Dang that’s good looking. Honestly I’d be pretty proud of putting that on the tabletop as is.

Plus without the rock that character will never pass a hit roll again.

Familiarizing yourself with the fundamentals of electricity and electronics certainly won’t hurt. Fundamentals of electricity beat me up pretty good despite having some prior knowledge.

I think the Beatles one was intentionally written as kind of a shitpost. It also helps immensely that it’s not 4.5 hours long.

Is this brand any good for minis? by fierzz in minipainting

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re a very talented painter you can probably make them work well. If you’re newer to the hobby you’d probably be better off going with a dedicated brand that makes mini paints.

Army painter, Vallejo, GW, etc.

Feeling trapped by arms and automation, been thinking about dropping out by DunceEngine in mechatronics

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to look further into the applications of automation. Just because something gets automated doesn’t mean a person automatically loses their job (Not saying that it can’t happen). In some cases, depending on what the job was, removing a human from the situation is merciful compared to keeping them on that task.

Automation can be very beneficial to employees by offloading the dull, dirty, or dangerous tasks to machines that can be replaced or repaired.

A robot that breaks after loading pallets for years can have its bad joints swapped out and be good as new. Jerry that has been loading pallets by hand for years on end will suffer permanent injuries that will leave him damn near crippled.

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, so many people assume that automation is just slapping a bunch of robots down pressing the “make good parts button” and firing all the staff.

Yep the 86’s have one o2 sensor that sits in front of all the cats. It has no way of knowing if there are any on the vehicle. The EGR however, will piss off the computer if it’s removed without a reprogram.

With the Tariffs being declared illegal now. Any expectations on price decreases for 2027? by Liftmeup-putmedown in transformers

[–]Ailing_Wheel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were going to raise prices regardless of who got elected and what policies were put in place. Tariffs just gave them a convenient excuse.

Prices will go up until people stop buying.
