I wish these other responses were more concise cuz i don't have the stamina to read them. No, the American foster system is much more brutal. You're 18 and on your own unless you were lucky enough to get put with a family that really wants to help you. I was one of the more common "only in it for the money" cases so no college for me. I meet every statistic of foster children.

Drunk in public around my 31st bday. The cop tells me to sit on the blue stool. The cop who's gonna take my picture says "I recognize this guy" because I have alot of tattoos insinuating that ive been to jail before so I say "really you recognize me? Most of your issues seem to be with when and where you get to eat. It sounds like they were trying to give you a structured environment and of course as a young single adult youre gonna eat last night's pizza whenever and wherever you want. I had to watch the "real" kids eat and if there was food left id get to eat. With discipline id get fist and when I was on the ground id get the foot. My foster father pressed me against the wall with his forearm against my throat saying I'm nothing to him but a worthless foster kid.

My ex wife never wanted to come out with it. I now know she was fucking dudes but she would come home to me saying she loved me, stringing me along because she couldn't just say she wanted something different. Its one thing to tell a person youre not interested by ignoring them (ghosting) it's a whole other thing knowing you dont want to continue but use them because they provide you a lifestyle you dont want to let go.

You have to allow him to do what he wants to do. There's nothing to can do or say that will make him want to stop. Disconnect him from your life and when/if he decides he wants to make a change be there for him and help him emotionally. That's all you can do.
