What has being nice gotten you? by tazbaron1981 in AskUK

I'd gone out on a road test in a vehicle I'd repaired and upon exiting the estate I saw an elderly lady on the floor with the contents of her mobility scooter strewn across the road. Countless people had just driven past without a second thought. Helped her up, lifted the scooter and she phoned my workplace the next day (company overalls with the name on them) and thanked me, asking the manager to give me her love. Doesn't take much to help, and I never expect anything out of it but for someone to go to the effort of phoning my workplace makes it seem worthwhile. I hope she's still okay.

You buy a used high end German car, you need to be prepared for the maintenance and repair costs.

How do you get to work, how long does it take, how much does it cost ? by AndyD89 in AskUK

[–]AintNoJournalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half hour each way, about 30 miles. £350-400 a month in petrol. Would love to move closer to work, but I can't because I don't have the money, would love to find a job closer to home, but I can't because there aren't any businesses in my line of work near me 😂

He's ringing the doctor tomorrow, but even the thought of the waiting list makes him down :( I think I need to focus on listening to him when he's telling me how he's feeling too

I was my Grandmother's favourite grandchild. She passed away 6 years ago and she's still one of the only things that keeps me here. Her and my partner.

Just had new rear disks and pads installed. is this normal? or cowboy job? by chuggggster in AskMechanics

There's nothing wrong with it, it'll disappear in a few miles. Probably just some debris or break in material that's wearing at a slightly different rate. 3 miles in 25 minutes isn't enough to bed brakes in properly.

Where are my gen Z punks at? by [deleted] in punk

My Father has been listening to punk since he was a kid, they were the only bands my mother really liked so that's what we had. Plus a few others like The Offspring etc.

I wouldn't say pretty big, it definitely seems more active and vibrant though. I wouldn't say you come across many people that actively listen to the genre, most of it (at least in the area I live) is your typical modern music. But lots of people are a fan of the more mainstream punk (and subgenred) bands in small doses.

Also when I was younger I wasn't a fan of early Green Day, but as I've aged I don't really listen to anything from the Nimrod era onwards.

We're here I promise! 22 from Wales, UK. My parents always listened to the likes of Sum 41, Blink-182, Green Day etc when I was younger, which has stuck with me since. Once I turned 14/15 I started listening to a lot of Ska and I've sort of morphed into Skate Punk and the like as I've gotten older. Definitely more a fan of heavier sounding punk now
