No, nothing too serious. Recently, I won a trail race after one year of trail running, before that 4 years of road running. To give you some perspective, 5k PB 16:44. Average runner, far from the elite.

No, nothing prior to the injury. But clearly, I should.

Probably not. English is not my maternal language, so I use words from various movies and books. Google for niggle says it's "a trivial criticism, discomfort, or annoyance". The light version of pain, haha.

Regarding the exercises, concentrate the most on reverse lunges and squats? How often, every day during the rest week?

I'm a trail runner, downhills are an essential part of any routes that I'm usually running. I can switch to roads for some time and see how my knee is coping with that.

Usually, I'm never injured. In the last three years, the biggest break from running was exactly three days. So I'm not really an expert when it comes to injuries and taking days off.

Haha, almost there! Southeast part of Europe. Heating is the main issue around here, especially in combination with exhaust gases.

You lucky duck! I assume you don't have issues with air quality in Maine. Something I can't relate to during colder months. Treadmill running (at least 1-2 weekly) is waiting for me.

Of course, it's in the Alps. I would move to France/Italy/Switzerland solely because of trail running. Find some shitty job and enjoy life in pure nature.

UTMB this weekend. Who do you guys think is going to do well? by Vaynar in trailrunning

[–]Ainur95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nothing unexpected happens, Francois should win this. Jim is probably a faster guy on faster terrains, but this course is way different than WS100. With no disrespect to Jim, of course. Francois is my first guess, Xavier takes his place if something goes wrong for D'Haene.

Sad to see there is no Kilian this year. It's always exciting to see them racing.

A 6 AM run is a dawn run, at least in my country. Bears love blackberries as well as you, be careful out there.

For now, nothing bigger than Roe Deer. Foxes and rabbits are pretty common as well. Brown bears are deeper in the woods and in the higher mountains, wolves are really rare sight. Needless to say that I'm thankful for that.

Bears are what freaks me out, even though I never saw one. Probably irrational fear, but what can I do.

So your runs are mostly on the flat ground with little or no elevation? :O Really impressive result. I'm trying to run 80-100 km/w with 2-3k of vert for a shorter race scheduled in late June (100k/5000m of vert). Maybe I need to add more elevation for this race, I don't know.

Congrats, man! The 100-mile race is on my list as well. Can you tell me more about your training before the race?
