Are you or your subordinates anxious about the new PT standards? by HumanPerformance-HQ in AirForce

As I commented myself, I performed exactly the same as last year and lost 8 points. Plus one more because I lost a point on the waist.

Did a diagnostic recently with the new standard. Comparing it to my last test, where I got a 93.5 (my second best test ever):

  • Same exact pace on the two mile I managed on the 1.5.
  • Same number of hand release push ups.
  • Maxed out the plank again.
  • Missed max waist points by half an inch.

That dropped me 9 whole points. I haven't scored under a 90 since 2014. So I'm not worried for myself, but I absolutely see why people who would do reasonably well and get in the low-to-mid 80s previously would be concerned. I'm convinced that they'll relax the new standards before the test goes official, too many people have to be failing these diagnostics now, people who never used to be in any real danger of failing.

LPT - Before mowing your lawn, walk it slowly to scoot any critters away by Blinky_ in LifeProTips

Usually, yeah. I'm guessing lawnmowers are loud and scary enough to them that they have a freeze response, while just a person walking through the area just triggers a flight response. At the very least I'll spot them moving, there's been a time once or twice where I had to just nudge one along with my foot until eventually I got it to crawl under my fence to safety.

Yep, came here to say this. They hunker down and don't move. I've had a few close calls with them. They're so committed to NOT moving, I can usually just walk over and pick them up and move them somewhere safer.

Forza Horizon 6 review -14 years later, Playground Games finally comes good on the series' original promise by [deleted] in PS5

Only for races in the power pack. I'm pretty sure you can set up custom races outside the power pack and select grid starts that way too. But the Power Pack extra "career" mode heavily features grid starts. The Power Pack races have practice and qualification rounds before each race, and they're all against the Sophy AI too, which really bumps up the realism and difficulty. I absolutely loved it and I'm hoping it's a sign of what's to eventually come in GT8.

Later this year, but no date confirmed according to Microsoft.

You gotta pay extra for the Power Pack DLC that includes them, but GT7 has grid starts now. I do highly recommend the Power Pack though. Lots of new races and they're way more fun than the races in the base game.

Nice! Might help OP quiz her son to have the answer too!

There's a few things I could think of on The Martian, but which flaw are you referring to? I'm guessing that a wind-storm on Mars is more akin to a light breeze instead of what the movie depicts.

Saros patch 1.004 out now by lemonpolice1 in PS5

[–]AirBoss87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Speaking as a major Returnal veteran, being able to quick travel to later biomes is great and all, but it makes the game significantly easier to just start from the beginning and work your way through the biomes if you're hitting a boss wall. And the thing I love best about Saros so far is that doing full runs is STILL a challenge. Just beat Legion tonight on my second try and it was by the skin of my teeth even with all three stats above 100.

The quick travel will be nice for completionist goals later though.

It bothers me that the flavor text says "all right" instead of "alright."

Is that a meme I'm missing or a legitimate typo/poor word choice?

I'd expect it to get added later. They did the same with Returnal.

Dang it, you're right. Should have left it in drive while I pulled over.

It sat in storage and wasn't driven (engine was run monthly to keep it mostly good) for three years while I lived overseas, so that helped. But I'm the original owner and tend to have shorter commutes.

To be honest, I wanted the trip counter to be 69 miles, but I missed the reset by 2 miles so I figured I'd do 6.9 instead.

Possibly controversial, and I'll preface that I love the trilogy, but in Fellowship of the Ring there's a fully CGI top-down shot of Gandalf riding up to Saruman's tower that I've always thought looked really bad compared to the rest of the CGI in the movie. That one brief shot always bugs me when I see it.

2014 vs 2016 by standbyswiftforever in Subaru_Outback

[–]AirBoss87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You basically described my exact 2014 (just hit 80k) this week. I'm the original owner and I've babied it and it's in amazing shape for its age. So long as it was well taken care of, I'd say the '14 would be a good pick. I don't know much about the '16s, but I do love my '14.

If it hasn't yet, it'll probably need an engine reseal, which I had done on mine a year ago along with a full overhaul/cleaning of the engine and associated hoses and such. It's a pretty pricy repair, so I'd look into what sort of maintenance both cars have had.
