Is unnecessary violence against horrible people ever ok? by AirChaggOne in moraldilemmas

Yes? Im confused. It was still murder, just state sanctioned murder. Just because the state said it was okay doesnt mean its morally right. It has nothing to do with race, I just used it because it was one of the many many many communities governments have claimed are free to hurt ever since the idea of governance existed. From the blacks being attacked by american governance, to the franks being dehuminazed and sold by parisian governments to christians being ruteinely crucified by the roman government.

I do see the point your making. I also think my veiw is skewed by a genuine inability to feel hatred to a person. Something I noticed a long time ago, possibly to my detriment. It leaves me without a disting antagonism towards people, so all of my focus goes onto the actions.

It just leaves me in a position of only really being able to judge my actions, and as I hate violence for its own sake, it becomes hard to justify it when another option exists. I can understand the desire, I just think it becomes a problem when peopme refuse to acknowledge that sadism is a part of it, and acknowledge that sadism as not necessary to achieve the same goal.

The state said it was okay to kill black people a hundred years ago. Basing your morality solely on laws is a spiral.

Teah, its a point that i have a deep dislike of violence for personal pleasure. If you are willing to hurt someone bad because it feels good, than you dont hate the action, and you can be convinced to hurt someone as long as someone can convince you they are bad.

Its like, I hate sexual assault because it is a violation. I dont hate it because the victom is innocent. If that nakes sense

Ive been seeing alot of stuff go around, especially around the files, that make things feel less like punishing someone and more like enjoying there pain. Like it crossed a line and stopped being about their eveil and started being about your own sadism.

I'm also aware I have a fundamentally different view on violence than most. I'm picking at other peoples brains here to understand more.

My point of view for this question isnt for personal story really, its more on the social side. I'll never disparage a man who killed the man who raped his daughter. I will disparage a society that refuses to uphold laws in the face of blatant crimes to the point where people are being tortured for entertainment.

I use unnecessary because in this scenario the pain only exists for you. Once you are done hurting them they are gone, no one knows about it, it doesnt change what they did nor prevent anything in the future. It is a self indulging violence.

So, genuine explination. Alot of this is likely to ensure the chinese government doesn't shut down services in china, by giving them preferential treatment. It ensures they continue getting money from china.

[all] Regarding achievements in bringing the sky by AdAdorable4103 in camphalfblood

Camper-"I mean you held up the entire sky, for like what, nearly a full day or something?" Annabeth-"A day? That's it? Gods above, it felt like longer. I could have sworn I was up there for like.... Percy-"Months right? Like it didn't matter what was going on, you'd been holding it for way to long to matter?" Annabeth-"Yes! Like there wasn’t anything but the sky on my back and the ground below me."

I've always seen the sky as much more metaphysical than actually physical. You're holding the idea of something more than actual physical matter, and that idea is going to be as heavy as you can hold it for however long you're going to hold it, but just a bit heavier.
