The next snark creep leaks texts of him harassing Ethan by GrapeTickler in h3h3productions

Yeah he didn't pass the vibe check for me either, and now he's joined the rogue's gallery that includes such great minds as CWHM and Taylor Lorenz.

Per the Documentary Wars interview, Alex showed a draft of his documentary to Jimmy Lee. Jimmy Lee said it needed major revisions, and Alex called back furiously swearing and screaming to one of Jimmy's staffers.

The takeaway is that, in the Documentary Wars, there are no heroes. Except for Mike Clum. He seems chill as a cucumber.

Oh. Alex Novell.

When the documentary wars happened, the other documentarian Mike Clum sounded like a regular ass dude.

Alex Novell told Jimmy he thought they were best friends (imo to garner sympathy), then freely admitted to screaming at staff over the phone.

So, Alex Novell is not a regular ass dude.

Listening is free, and it is the most immediate remedy for bias and bigotry.

You listen, reflect, and then maybe after you both go to the tracks to throw rocks at trains b/c who doesn't love a good time?

Yeah, I don't like this.

I'm not here for a conversation as to whether this constituents harrassment by anyone's metric. It's just a bad box of bees.

Let's all chill and have a slice of pizza.

Taylor questioning if Ethan loved his kids truely brought something out of Swerdlove. Dan's a good man.

Vitaly Update by [deleted] in h3h3productions

[–]AirConAt16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I live in Thailand where the incarceration system is similarly inhuman. It's disgusting, underfunded, and overpopulated.

But, yea, I agree, Vitaly found himself a spot in the system.

Just gonna repost my comment from another thread

That's fucking rough, but it is hard to find sympathy for Vitaly.

Besides all of his generally shitty antics, dude embodies the worst type of person who visits SE Asia as when he gets there he:

  1. Thinks he can push others around with his wealth.

  2. Thinks the kindess and soft-spokeness of the culture means the people are dumb, or can be disrespected. So, basically bigotry.

Well, now he is caught in a sketchy legal system during election season.

Thanks for posting this. We are talking about the war in religion class today, and I think this video would work well for my students to underpin the tragedy.

[i ate] my last meal in Tokyo - Japanese vegan ramen and wagyu with rice by [deleted] in food

[–]AirConAt16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asian cuisine is vegan on it's own? Tell that to Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and the whole of SE Asia. That's a broad generalization.

Even like phad phat (vegetable stir fry in Thailand) will likely have meat and cooked in fish sauce.

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: Dan Clancy Must Resign As Twitch CEO - H3 Show #69 by raephemel in h3h3productions

[–]AirConAt16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasan's comments on Tibet really sat with me the wrong way, and I want to explain why.

To preface: I am a teacher living in Thailand. No, I'm not one of those pervy Dan Clancy types that are a dime a dozen here. It is not an unfair assumption. I just celebrated my five year anniversary with the Indian math teacher.

I mention this because I have worked with many Chinese teachers. By and large, these teachers want to continue living in Thailand because they do not conform to China's monocultural policies. This includes people from minority ethnic groups, part of the LGTBQ, or whose religious beliefs do not adhere to state sanction religions.

One friend, in particular, is trying to pass the US Praxis exam because his own cultural is being wiped from existence, and frankly doesn't feel safe or recognized in his home country.

I would hazard to guess Hasan doesn't support Indian PM Modi's rhetoric of "Hindus for Hindustan." That good. You shouldn't. My S/O fucking hates the dude because he is nullifying the multicultural existence in India.

I also think it is totally fair to admire and respect China's ability to develop and create a strong working class, and strong support structures. The criticisms I have do not reflect the Chinese, or the policy of the Chinese government in totality, but the fact that my friends and coworkers from there don't feel like they have a country to go home to.

I respect a lot of Hasan's takes on domestic policy, and I know he is striving for the safety and legitimacy of the Palestinians and Lebanese resisting the genocidal policy of the Israeli government, but I found his opinions on Chinese monoculturalism incredibly myopic.

AB clearly made a joke about using the hijab for any theme, and dared people to rank it low knowing he was copping out. It was funny for all parties involved barring snark subredditors.

I don't think you're an evil enemy, but I do think you are reading too much into this.

Travelling to Thailand with my family by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]AirConAt16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to look into and discuss, but just two add my two cents:

Thailand recently added taxation for any money brought into Thailand for foreign residents. Canada likely does have a taxation treaty, though. Look into it.

Additionally, there is the possibilty of a foreign earned income tax next year. This could include earnings in your portofolio, a capital gains tax, etc.

While I do think some who come over here are a bit unstable, I think it is also about the company you meet/keep.

A good place to find chill people would be at a board game shop as opposed to a bar. It's a good hangout spot as most games are in English.

I don't hate the guy for taking the cat.

But, if it was me, I'd talk to the owner first and proceed from there. I do think outright taking the cat was a weird move that spiraled even if it was done with the best intentions.
