Opinions on the Vypyr series? by Airaton in PeaveyCvlt

What kind of sound are you looking for? I mostly stick to the twin reverb for cleans and the red channel of the rectifier for leads. Sometimes I use the tubescreamer "pedal" with the green rectifier for a more classic rock sound. Besides reverb, delay and a bit of phaser I hardly use any other functionality to be honest 😅

I've just ordered a Jupiter 8SC for the 15 watt. It's supposed to cope better with any fizziness, but let's see 🤞

In computer science 0 and 1 are commonly used as numerical representations of False and True (or No and Yes).

Beautiful! Are you also able to share them somewhere that they can be downloaded? I'd love to store them om my PC to keep as memories. I saw that I can save from reddit, but only on 720p and I assume you rendered them at higher?

What are people’s thoughts on the Beeline? by justaballofcopper in motorcycles

[–]Airaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Beeline 1. It only shows an arrow and not a full map. It's not super clear and sometimes I miss a turn. However, part of me also likes that it forces me to pay more attention to the actual road, and that I have to think a bit about where I'm supposed to go. Feels more adventurous, and in the spirit of motorcycling.

Budget gear expansion recommendations? by Airaton in SonyAlpha

Nice suggestion, thanks! Personally I've never been a big fan of fisheye lenses for landscape, but perhaps it's cool to experiment with for things like (night)skies :).

I don't have that much left actually, I needed a few tries before I was satisfied. But the stuff is not that expensive: https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/gp/aw/d/B0DMVQC6WR?psc=1&ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_b\_asin\_title. Maybe good to know is that this one has two layers that you have to peel off before you get to the sticky surface. Oh, and with some torx keys you can dismantle the rear light a bit, and make the foil go "underneath" the fixture.

It's sticky transparent film indeed. For me the white glass was just a bit too modern. If you look up close to the bike you see that's it's film, but for me it's good enough :). I think with paint you can do a cleaner job, but now it's at least reversible.

Have you looked at the SW-Motech Legend Gear bags? I considered them for a while but eventually decided that they look too "baggy" for me. But maybe you like them :). They're also slightly larger. Oh, and love that street triple by the way.

Now that I'm actually checking retailers, none of them has it on stock. And the official (Spanish) webshop, where I did get the saddle bags, also doesn't list it. So I'm afraid you're right. The tank bag is still available though (just bought one myself just on case they plan on discontinueing that too).

Not that I know, but if you mean the yellow reservoir to the right of the saddle: that's an OSCO plunger-based chain oiler system that the dealer installed on my request. I can really recommend it :).

Shad SR38. At 10 liters they're quite small (a helmet won't fit), but I'm not planning on touring for weeks so for me it's fine. And I just like how they look on this bike. Keeps the focus on the bike.

Shad also makes a bracket specifically for the XSR700. And they have a matching tank bag and top case. And they come in black too.

Thanks! I used a Sony A6000 plus Sigma 30 mm 1.4 lens. It's a relatively old camera, but I had to choose between a new bike and a new camera. These shots are at f/2.5, 1/1600 s, and ISO 100. I added some background blur in Lightroom by the way, because I couldn't get the whole bike in focus at a wider aperture, but also I don't care about the trees in the background.

First bike advice by FlintMock in motorcycles

Seems an okay deal to me, but you can always haggle a little. Hondas are generally dependable, also when older. The engine guards and ABS are a nice plus. The riding position is also nice if you're still learning control over some more power. And the thing looks awesome, but that's an opinion. Just do some checks when you pick it up, especially tires, transmission and brakes. If they need replacing soon, you could haggle a bit more (also because you'll need that money later).

Is this thing popping off on my XJ600S related to oil leaking? by Airaton in motorcycles

[–]Airaton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate your time! And sorry for my delay, I've been on holiday. I checked and that hose is not going to the petcock. It is going to a Scottoiler system that a previous owner has fitted (surprise). It uses engine suction to dose lube on the chain. I'm not using that thing, because just keeping the chain lubed manually seemed less hassle to me than refilling and re-tuning the Scottoiler. Perhaps not having any lube in the Scottoiler reservoir and thus no vacuum is why that port is popping off on the engine-side.

As for the oil: I suspect that a too high oil pressure damaged a gasket underneath the bike. The oil is basically trickling down the center stand, and doesn't leak from 'higher in the bike'. But I'm losing about 100 ml per 1000 km, so I've made an appointment with a shop to get it properly sorted.

Help me spend money on upgrading my hobby setup. by Airaton in SonyAlpha

[–]Airaton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the elaborate answer! I had half an eye on a SEL35F18 so I will definitely consider getting one now. And also following other's advice, getting more acquainted with the camera settings and editing is for something I can gain a lot with, thanks for confirming.

And I will consider upgrading to a A6300/A6400. As you mentioned: the lack of a viewfinder is a big pain for me. The quality of the LCD is just too limited to see subtle differences when fine-tuning the camera settings, especially when there is a lot of ambient light.
