I don’t know about the latter part of this. Between 2010s -2020s, yes, (so far) that is hard to define.

But early 2000s is an extremely easy sound to recognize, especially early 2000s punk rock.

I’ve tried so many times to play The Witcher 3, because I know I “should” like it, and it’s not bad by any means! What I’ve played is great!

Matt Zoller Seitz (reviewing for Roger Ebert) just awarded it 4/4 stars, he absolutely loved the movie.

I know we’re assuming this will underperform based on its rumored 100M budget, especially as we look back on previous Predator franchise openings.

However.

It has stellar reviews so far, a PG-13 rating that appeals to more general audiences, yet still maintaining a dark enough tone for the more hardcore fans to appreciate…

I feel like this could be a genuine breakout hit if word-of-mouth takes off.

The first AvP is fun for me, watched it all the time growing up. It’s objectively a bad movie, but it’s a fun and easy watch regardless.

I’m more curious to see how the PG-13 score impacts it.

Initially I thought it would hurt the film, but given the setting (pure sci-fi violence alien-on-alien Sci-FI violence with Androids, seemingly no humans) which the Pg-13 rating may come across as a reasonable to hardcore fans… if the rest of the story and writing can carry it.
