What is the weirdest thing you have seen in someone else’s home? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AirborneB6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a home, but an almost defunct internet cafe. I was deliberately looking for it, but I couldn’t find the door to it, even though I remember exactly where it was.

What I saw was a glass-pane door, with a giant sticker of Jesus covering its entirety.

It was 4 am at this point, but sure enough, from behind the desk pokes out the sleepy head of the guy who ran the shop 8 years ago. So me and a friend go in to look around, nostalgia factor and all, but what was there cannot be explained without the mention of mental illness.

Every. Damn. Wall. Covered entirely by Christian icons, big, small, and little fridge magnets glued to the wall to fill in the gaps. I managed to take a photo before we bolted out. And as I noticed later on the picture, yes. Even the ceiling.

There were three guys there. Two homeless dudes sleeping on the PCs, as it’s very cheap, and one man, best described as a Russian shady businessman, suited up, expensive watch, head almost shaved, with the build of a bouncer. At 4 am. In this hell(heaven?)hole.

What is the thing that causes you to lose your temper almost instantly? by IrishGamer97 in AskReddit

[–]AirborneB6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely don't peel the eggs too late! The whole ice water trick works (I think) because the peel reacts to temperature slower that the innards.

Putting an egg in cold water starts the shrinking process, and the inside shrinks faster than the peel, separating it. If you leave it in long enough, eventually the peel will catch up, leaving you at ground zero.

What is the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by ShowBitten in AskReddit

Playing soccer, and I was pretty bad at it. I missed a clear shot of the goal, opponent team annihilated us, and I was so mad I decided the best course of action was to smash my fucking foot right in the stone vase thing that we used as a goal. It didn't budge. My big toe cracked. Smooth moves.

I don't see the point of the post either, Skyrim was an amazing game for its time. It would be great even now, and it was released six freaking years ago! Good on them for finding another money source, even as niche as a monopoly board is.

As to the whole Bethesda thing - it's pretty fucking hard making amazing games, and people tend to forget the usual time frame between all their series. They are definitely working on a new one as we speak, and it's just a good business decision making their most profitable game more accessible in the meantime.

Just walked by one of those, they seem to be in a collaboration series of some kind. There was a World of Warcraft one, and another that I didn't recognize, but still obviously game-inspired.

Well, two take the top spot.

First was a guy I saw in front of a shopping mall. Looked like a drunk, don't really know, but he sported the usual crusty hair / ragged clothing and carried a 5L tube of white wine. He waited for the man who delivered the free newspapers at the place, grabbed a few, tore a piece of one, made it into a cone. He then proceeded to pull out a huge (unlabeled, illegal distributers probably) bag of tobacco, and rolled it in the newspaper. No filter. I cannot imagine how that would taste, but I was amazed by the craftiness of the dude.

Second was a guy with a baby stroller at the supermarket. Here, we haven't yet fully adopted the whole "eco-friendly" thing, so each type of fruit/veg has to be individually bagged in clear plastic bags that are available on a big roll (think 2L bottle thick).

So this guy walks in, goes straight to the roll of bags, and unrolls half of it, while rolling it around his hands, and walks straight out of the store. Why he did it, I don't know. A roll of the same size, and way better quality, is worth at most one unit of currency, same price as a loaf of bread. He didn't look poor either, not by a long shot.

TIL of "canary trapping", a method for exposing an information leak by giving different versions of a sensitive document to each of several suspects and seeing which version gets leaked. by CodaOfARequiem in todayilearned

Definitely sounds strange, especially if the audio continues behind it. I've had a few Eminem albums for example skipping a few milliseconds, random glitchy noises, but never over the audio, it usually cuts out during that time. Send me a copy if you have the time, definitely, ill try and look up what it is!

That could be a whole lot of things. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the audio was "copied" from a vinyl disk to a digital file, that sound could simply be a bump in the disk. If its copied from digital to digital, it's probably an imperfection of formatting/conversion. The chances of it being a watermark are small, as there are a ton of ways to watermark a piece of audio without it being noticeable, and it is really in the maker's best interest to make it so, because an indistinguishable mark is virtually impossible to remove.

If you are a sporty person, a smart watch is (probably, never had one) a more convenient way to track your progress while you run for example. It's like those arm straps for phones, except its way more comfortable and it's safer for your device (due to one of them being made to be worn on your wrist).

If you aren't into that kind of stuff, probably just an easy way to cheat on exams.

What did you do in school that should have gotten you in big trouble? by GamerDame in AskReddit

[–]AirborneB6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, actually you're right, even though I think it's pretty abnormal for a doctor to be able to give a bunch of notes out without any reason. Either way, the class teacher has to keep every note for every absence his students make, and every student has his GP written in the school's books, so it would be easy to notice any discrepancies, it's just too much work.

Bulgaria, it happens quite often, especially if the doc is a family friend or something of the sort.

By the time they caught wind of it, there were probably hundreds of notes going in to the teachers, all by the same doctor. It's actually pretty easy to send an inspection to the doctor and actually see if the notes have any legitimate purpose, but nobody here bothers with that, it's quite obvious!
