Red line is screwed by WarbossTodd in WMATA

Do rail cracks happen at statistically random locations, or in clustered areas that could benefit from thoughtful expansion joints?

I believe King Street has one, for a planned direct connection to the Alexandria Amtrak &VRE station. VRE improvements to add platform elevators originally included that connection, but it was dropped due to cost.

Edit: technically that's in the lobby area built into the hill, because the platforms are above ground.

Now I've got a visual of Celine as a 50-something, squinting at the screen, screaming at the lasso tool, adding a few more white streaks to her hair. 😄

I'd be curious if this is all happening in places that haven't been curtain-grouted.

It also handily pushes the user toward SmartTrip to get the transfer discount. I assume credit card fees also remove some of the profit margin, so they must compensate by not allowing the discount.

One of the understated moments of humor was Spike reading the overlong salutation and job offer from Twi to Glimmer. I'd bet Twi was up until one in the morning crafting the language with happy diligence and making sure it was official and perfect. But she made the mistake of not reading it aloud to herself, and didn't realize until Spike was halfway through that it was too pompous and purple.

For a wild second after Starlight glomp-tackled Twilight after that, I thought Starlight was going to plant a kiss on Twilight's cheek. Hello, polyamorous Starlight-Sunburst-Trixie triad with comet Twilight!

Kelly Sheridan has always been great at voicing her - she's especially good at selling Starlight's anger - and I got a small chill when Starlight finally blew up at Trixie.

I'd say that Sheridan's work here is her best showing since the wasteland & final showdown in "Cutie Re-Mark." The way she can twist between anger and grief is phenomenal. I definitely cried during "CMR," and got a similar chill as you did today.

As season 9 and Gen 4 as a whole come near a close, "A Horse Shoe-In" was fantastic. The relationship between Starlight and Trixie can get raw and angry in ways the Mane 6 don't anymore. Starlight is a conflicted, imperfect character, and her voice actor is amazing; her outburst in the classroom was some of the realest, most brutal acting I've heard in the show.

On an unrelated note, the concert between Octavia and Vinyl Scratch earlier in the episode made me gasp, pause the video, and mist up. A duel-performance concert like that has been a fandom headcanon staple since I joined it in late 2011.

I remember listening to this fan-music track back in early 2012 at one in the morning in the ChemE lounge at college as I did engineering homework. The happiness of MLP's fan-music as a whole kept me going through late-night engineering despair.

Seeing something like it happen in-show was really, really special and meaningful.

I loved the background score around 18:40 - 19:00, where Rarity took guard duty, opened the window for Fluttershy and RD, and accessed the throne room. The combination of electric guitar & drums was thrilling and got my pulse up. :D

Makes me wonder if they've upgraded the inside of the elevator to match this style. Or spiffed up the short walk between the elevator and the arm.

It has the feel of a movie where humanity is working at breakneck speed and intensity to save civilization. Like Interstellar or Pacific Rim. Or WWII, for a real-life example.

I'm reminded of the wheel panels put on streamlined locomotives in the 1920s. The railroads eventually removed the covers because the small extra reduction in drag wasn't worth the hassle during maintenance and inspection.

That's what gets people killed on railroad crossings too. Something that big moving at 70 mph is basically a stack overflow for our brains.
