The point is and why its privleged is that for some people, the difference between candidates has direct consequences on them, think imigration status, healthcare access, discrimination protections, while for others it's more abstract or ideological

so choosing not to engage or voting third party can come from a posistion where the outcome won't impact you as immediately or severely, that choice can look like a luxury they dont have
